View Full Version : Ouija Board Pollux V 01-22-02, 07:46 AM PLEASE tell me there wasn't another thread like this, for some reason I think there was. Anyhoo does anyone have any stories related to the Ouija board? Psy-learner 01-22-02, 08:09 AM Skeptic's defenition: "An Ouji board is claimed to be a wooden board used whit a glass, to summon higher powers or ghosts" Average/Dreamer's/Alto's/Wiccan defenition: "The Ouji board is a board to call ghosts and spirits, you have to do as they please whitin the confronsation, or there can happen horrofying things in your life" My *and some other* defenition: "The Ouji board was supposed to call spirits and higher powers, It is in fact some sort of higher power, your own power. Your unconsious moves the glass to reply to the consious mind. " Well Pollux V, I belive we did have a fast talk about this in an other thread. As far as I know it was Tristan's Psycokinesis Thread. We just did a few little messages, not a lot. I join a theory that it is our unconsious mind interacting. It works like a pendel or hipnosis was said... I think I still have a file of the *how to abuse hypnosis* text. Back to the psycokinesis thread: It was not to my knoweledge yet, but I was somewhat skeptic to the ouji board in some ways. I askingly suggested that maybe whit hypnosis, we could tap in our unconsious power. People appear to try it some times, but in fact it did happen. Not realy psycokinesis or such things have been accomplished yet. You, me *if ever* or other people can try the ouji board, and ask things you did a pendel. maybe it can reply in a more precise or interactive way. Because the average pendel is limited to awnser whit: yes, no, I don't know & I can't say. Greetz. Pollux V 01-22-02, 10:05 AM Yes I did get your PM, psy-learner. Well that answers my question. I'm sort of a half and half-I keep an open mind but I don't believe everything I hear. As I intended to write before I had one brief experience with the Ouija board which scared the sh*t out of me. It shouldn't have but it did. We went into a playground across the road with a friend or two and started screwing around with it, and sure enough after only quivering it started saying (after we asked it who it was) TG. We asked it how old it was and it said 55 (it stayed on the 5 and we asked it if it was 55 and it said yes). Nothing really interesting happened after that and I was really freaked out so I decided to stop without even saying goodbye-I left my sis and friends to go home. The board is now inside this butt-ugly basket on top of one of our coffee tables. Maybe I'll use it again in the summer. kmguru 01-22-02, 12:38 PM Originally posted by Psy-learner My *and some other* defenition: "The Ouji board was supposed to call spirits and higher powers, It is in fact some sort of higher power, your own power. Your unconsious moves the glass to reply to the consious mind. " I tend to agree. Many years ago, while getting a degree in electrical engineering, I was involved experiemnting with such ideas with my classmates. We concluded that information somehow gets passed from one person in the group to others who are touching the device. Is there telepathy involved, I do not know. Outside influence like ghosts or spirits? definitely not - since if the information is not available, one gets a 50/50 reply (yes/no, head/tail). Banshee 01-28-02, 07:03 PM An Ouija board is no toy. It can drive you literally insane if you are unstable and believe you really have contact with the spirit world. The only things you can get out of an Ouija board are things from your own or someone else's subconsciousness. You better stay away from it. And I mean it!! I'll tell you the 'story' of a girl who came to me after 'playing' with an Ouija board. She was completely shaken up because the 'spirits' had told her that she would die within a week. It was her own subconsciousness that gave the message, she was having suicidal thoughts. The girl was so scared, she nearly got crazy from fear. Young humans, especially in their teens, are sensitive for telepathic and telekinetic abilities. They don't even know they have them, til they run into an exciting 'game' with an Ouija board. My, my, what excitement if it works out wrong. Be careful with those things please... (Q) 01-28-02, 07:17 PM Some users believe that paranormal or supernatural forces are at work in spelling out Ouija board answers. Skeptics believe that those using the board either consciously or unconsciously select what is read. To prove this, simply try it blindfolded for some time, having an innocent bystander take notes on what letters are selected. Usually, the result will be unintelligible non-sense. The movement of the planchette is not due to paranormal forces but to unnoticeable movements by those controlling the pointer, known as the ideomotor effect. The same kind of unnoticeable movement is at work in dowsing. Mr. G 01-29-02, 12:36 AM Ouija boards are the fall-back option for those who can't make sense of blackboards. MuliBoy 01-29-02, 03:23 PM My board just told me to be mean to mean ppl. I was guided by a very world weary Ghandi. I think he might be giving up hope for some people. Psy-learner 02-06-02, 01:55 PM Try to think this. If you would contact a spirit, ANY, and I litteraly meen ANY spirit at all. Why would it be a person knowing you and speak YOUR language? By telepaty? If there are *not alien, cause of the mis-understood meening* extra terestrial spirits on earth, maybe for their first day, how can they communicate whit A earth language, esspecially yours? Or how can an Animal spirit communicate in an intermadiate to advanced way in your language? I always have a theory, but in time - an hour to even a year - I always get further by logical thinking. The more you can get from that theory, the more the awnser becomes a constant and the question a variable. If you have a question, mostly 1 or more solutions can pop up out of 1 thing. But begin whit the out come, and the question or cause can differ from it. So the most logical to me is my theory. Just go trough all the things possible and half possible. Count the odds what are mostly assosiated, and get rid of those. Then the other awnsers maybe you did not see in the beginning, will get clearer to you. A spirit of your familie can hang out at an other relative of yours or roam from relative to relative, so it doesn't meen it would be there at the time you use your ouji board. Just go on from here whit what you are thinking... Just don'tbother whit it to much :) Greetz... Nights The Dreamer 02-25-03, 08:08 PM well i was at a garage sale and i found an old quji board and it was only 50 cents so i bought it because it was so cheap. i had used one before with friends a few years ago so i knew how to use it. well i brought it home and called a few friends ordered a pizza and waited untill dark . dark came and we made a circle of candles and made it a magic circle sealed it and so forth . Well we waited and waited and as wax dripped on the cement basement floor i was getting bored. it was late and i was geting tired. Then....silly me i realized i closed the circle so no spirts could come in,,,duh...silly me. so mi told my friends and we sort of laughed at or own forgetfullness so we opened the circle and waited more. nothing happened then i realized that i had put many protection spells on my house so i laughed at my forgetfullness again. and we all stay over at my house it was late and we started to play video games and fell asleep ...a few days later we tired at my friends and i was really energetic to see my board work now, i was like yeah! so we started and after a little bit it started to move we made contact.we asked it's name was Clyde and it was a male so we asked were he lived and he said he didn't remember, so i asked hes last name he didn't remember and said he doesn't know were he is and he was clueless to that he was a spirt he got angry and said " i boy " i said when did you die he said he didn't so i was interested in this i asked all my good friedns if they were moving it they were most of them were really scared i told them not to be affraid it only gives te spirt power so they clamed down and my note taker* the person who takes all the nores of the spirt said look he keeps using the m's alot for no reason so i asked him why he said mother i said were is she he said away so i got alittle frightened my self i asked the kid who owned the house a friend of mine if any one died in the house like maybe in there sleep. he didn't know ,it was an old house though..his parents werent't home so i couldn't ask them and the kid started to remember he saw a boy once when he was little in his room once and played with him but he said he didn't remeber to well almost like a childhood dream i asked him what did he look like he said he doesn't remember the face but the boy had blue clothes ..so then we tired to tell the spirt that it was a spirt and he left and got mad,.. so we let him alone for awile a few days and tired again i realized the energy from my friends being scared got the spirt more powerful and started to make noise in my friends house so my friend left and spent the nightm at my house for awhile...err... i will finnish the story but not now iam alone right now and remembering this is giving me the chills and i keep looking over at the kithen so i will writew back.....bye! Mystech 02-25-03, 10:05 PM I used to have one a while ago. . . well probably still have it around here somewhere. Used it a lot with friends when we were kids, and we were bored. It was never any fun unless one of our friends decided to take it upon himself to move it for us, otherwise not a whole hell of a lot happend, hell we even took it to our neighborhood's supposidly haunted house (Doesn't every neighbhorhood have one?) but still nothing much came of it untill one of us started to controll the answers, and then we'd usualy figure it out when the ghosts couldn't spell worth a damn, or the answers tended to be "Fart" or "Boobie" 9 times out of 10. kirstykiwi 02-25-03, 11:45 PM Toy shops used to sell them as games back in the 50's, but they were banned. Pollux V 02-26-03, 06:12 PM This is a very old thread. I was barely fourteen when I started it. Nights The Dreamer 02-26-03, 07:00 PM that one ouija board i got when i was little is in the closest i think i have been useing the one i made in 9th grade shop class, my teacher was a catholic and when i was making the board he was always a jerk to me he even asked me what religion i was and because i didn't want to say wicca and explian to him i said that i didn't belong to any and he yelled out "your an atheist!" i said no no no i mean i do not have a religion and he said " any on here catholic?" and a kid said "yeah i am." and the teacher said "good extra credit to you .. and any other catholics...." grr he really did guve them extra credit i thought he was just joking but when the the catholic kid that was absent most the time and wasn't done with his cutting board *i choose to make a Quija board* and he wasn't even as far as me got an -A and i got a D *iam not saying that it was because of my religion but it was very strange *me being an A/+B sudent.....grr... i hated that class....But the board works good.....it's a hobby of mine to deal with anything that is occult ..... since i was little...Bye ... I started around December 2002 at top Web comics and I already have hit 136 posts. my average posts there is 2 per day, and here just a crappy post per 3 days. But back to topic. I SUGGEST THAT YOU BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE THEM. Some should never get near them at all. My Ouija lessons opened the door for other paranormal experiences...automatic drawing and writing and then channeling. I don't recommend anyone try any of these unless they are properly councelled first. I am interested in hearing of other's experiences. Anyone use the Ouija Board as a pathway to channeling? Please share. :D KenshiSoro 04-24-03, 10:31 AM Originally posted by kirstykiwi Toy shops used to sell them as games back in the 50's, but they were banned. I've done it, the thing is you all wait for ages with your fingers on a thing, obviously eventually someone is going to think "fuck it" and start moving it around. In my experience that someone was me:p Oh we talked to some interesting characters, even a dead alien at one stage. Now here is how you can totally debunk it, put blindfolds on everyone involved, get one person to keep their mouth shut and write down what they spell. You will notice the dead people start talking gibberish; "ap ouga mukq xdokl" There. Game over. jonibo 04-24-03, 12:50 PM Dr, Maybe IF you tried it with a group that was the response YOU got. I was using it alone. After a while I didn't need it anymore. I moved into automatic drawing, automatic writing and then what some might call channeling. Maybe it was my subconcious mind or maybe it was from something otherworldly, I don't know. I do know whatever the source, the feelings that I got were very different...one evil, one not and many undetermined. Don't be so quick to judge something you do not understand. EvilPoet 04-24-03, 01:05 PM Museum of Talking Boards (http://www.museumoftalkingboards.com/) hehe 04-24-03, 01:15 PM In my opinion all the person needs is to see the sound, then it could be heard. It also depends on ur state of mind, if it constantly changes, like moving from one perspective to another day after day it could be done easly without any help from any person but coming from that person u see in ur own eyes. There is a posibility to even hear the spoken word before it is spoken, or know the words of some song uve never heard just before it goes out of ur radio or such device, but it is extremly rare thing tto happen. U dont need any board or something that do as magical stuf, all u need is ur mind and the state ur in. The Listener 05-02-03, 11:15 PM :) I severly deter anyone from usin' these things. I used them once and ever sense I have been followed by what I view as a demonic spirit. I have either been givin the spirits name by it or I have used my telepathy to find it out. I am so friggin afraid of this thing. I can feel the evil of this thing and if I do something "IT" views as wrong, I literally feel pain. I KNOW that there are many natural explanation. But I cant think of any. I feel a kind of feeling like I am being stabbed with needles. Not like I am numb but like I am being poked with hot needles. I can even converse with this thing. Personally, anyone can say whatever they want but I don't care. Don't Do it!!!!!!!!!! jonibo 05-02-03, 11:53 PM I am so friggin afraid of this thing. DouBTlessWonDer 05-03-03, 10:20 PM Once, my friend and I did it, but that was bullsh*t because somehow...mysteriously...she was going to date and then marry the guy she liked at the time...and another time, we contacted an older person, can't remember girl or boy, but they died in the North-West corner of my house, on the "f-i-r-s-t-t-s-r-i-f" floor of Scarlett Fever...we got alot of backward-spellings...:bugeye: Mystech 05-04-03, 01:05 AM It's a peice of cardboard with some friggin' letters written on it, and produced by matel, makers of barbie and other classic kids toys, frankly I can't think of any LESS mystic or mysterious thing in the world. Reference Penn and Teller's Bullshit! episode on Ouija Boards... people work together to form words, whether they know it or not. The experiment they did was great... they had these three Ouija board enthusiasts "contact a spirit", they kept getting the answer "yes" to their questions... Then, these same three people were blindfolded, the board was turned around 180 degrees and they continued with the "seance". They continued to ask questions and every "yes" answer, the indicator went to where the "yes" was before the board was flipped. This was just one experiment. There are no spirits. It is all in their minds. Penn and Teller are great. jonibo 05-07-03, 04:52 PM There are no spirits. It is all in their minds. Yes and spirits are in the mind and from the mind. So are demons. Mystech 05-09-03, 03:49 AM There is no such entity as a spirit or a demon, and anything one may call a spirit or a demon which comes from the mind is simply a very poor classificatin of things which already have much more spacific names, and attributes. man_of_jade 05-09-03, 09:06 AM Ellimist: When you lose your head, you lose the arguement. Simply cut out a bunch a paper pieces, write out one letter of the letter of the alphabet on each of them, include a yes and no piece, grab one of your Mom's drinking glasses, arrange the letters in a circle alphabetically with YES and NO on either sides of the circle, place the glass in the middle(preferably a light-weight glass) and viola our very own DIY communcation device to the spirit world. :p Each person places one finger on the glass with hardly any pressure and then "begin the summoning process". We've been messing with this thing since children. Real fun especially when moving into a new neighbourhood. My mom (who is also very skeptical) taught us the game ofcourse scared us as little kids telling us that we were communicating with spirits, but as I got older, and realised I too was quite the skeptic, found holes in this board game. We placed it on my foldable card table, and there was about six of us who sat around it. While we were using the planchette, we made a complete connection with each other with our little fingers. The connection was closed. Whomever was using the planchette, connected using the hand across the forearm. The first thing it spelled out was "diablo is here." Then my card table levitated about six inches off the floor! I am not kidding. It scared the hell out of all of us! I burned the damn thing. I don't believe in a Devil. That was in my younger days when I was impressionable. I've come a long way spiritually since then. I haven't forgotten that experience, but now I'm pretty sure that at least one of the people attending that seance had evil motives. I'm not sure why there seemed to be such evil powers in my little apartment, but the next time I saw this guy, I puked right on the street when I laid eyes on him! Of course, that could be because of the fear of God I had at that time. Incidently, my best friend married this jerk. He moved here across the US to get her away from her family and friends, and he held her captive for about two years, maybe longer, as I tend to recall her saying. He bolted all the windows and covered them so no one could see out or in. There was no phone, and this was before home computers. When he left to go to work where they lived at Benton Harbor, MI, he bound her up so she couldn't get away. Somehow she was finally able to get out and got to a phone and got away. Of course, I tried to talk her out of marrying him, because I knew he was deranged. Once she escaped, she ended up living with her elderly parents in Texas (even to this day). She's a recluse now and I haven't talked to her since about 1984. She's permanently scarred and uncommunicative with people who knew her back when. I sensed something very evil about this guy. Makes me wonder now why we had such a creepy experience with him. TheERK 05-15-04, 04:52 PM ************* M*W: Back in my college days, a group of us who were interested in parapspychology got together with my ouija board at my apartment. Uh, you're all sitting at a card table, and it lifted up a few inches? Any one of you could have used your knees to do that. Card tables aren't exactly heavy. I never said it was a heavy card table, in fact, it was one of the cheaper ones. Sure, someone could have used his knees to do that, but that wasn't the case. We were all sitting on low stuff like bean bags and low chairs. Hey, I was in college, I didn't own any real furniture. It wasn't anyone using their knees, because when it lifted, we all kinda panicked and let go. It seemed like our hands in a complete connected circle acted as a vacuum. When we separated our physical connection, the table fell. The power of the mind can do strange things, especially in consort with others who believe in strange happenings. All I can say is that I'm not afraid of anything anymore, but I never want to experience that again. If people were situated too low to use their knees, perhaps their feet would do. Also, just because you believed everyone was holding hands doesn't mean they were. In fact, it would be even easier to fool people if two people were in on the prank. So much for critical thinking. SpyMoose 05-16-04, 11:56 PM TheERK, round these parts they call criticalt hinking "Closed mindedness". Its nessisary to assign a derogotory word to critical thinking, because if you don't then no one gets to have any fun around here via trying to convince themselves and others that they are special through some sort of supernatural power or event. pragmathen 05-17-04, 04:42 PM In highschool, my brother and I and some friends got one and tried it out. We asked all kinds of goofy questions: Am I good-looking? Is he a dork? What are you up to tonight? I guess they weren't that goofy, maybe just straight-forward. Anyway, it spelled out various phrases, sometimes highlighted yes and no. We asked if it knew Jesus Christ and their view on him (probably fear if I remember correctly). Then one of us got it into our heads (not me) to go to our local cemetery (we resided in a town of about 300 living residents). Naturally it was late at night, hence my reason for opting out of this ouija board venture. Eventually, the board led them to a little boy's grave, spelling out the name, date of birth/death, the whole kit and kaboodle. They ran out of there yelling. We never used the crazy thing again. And, still (it's been at least 10 years), none of the five of us has said we were making it up. Perhaps one of us glanced at the gravesite once and it came up subconsciously. Or one of us deliberately did it. Or not. No one's fessing up. c20H25N3o 05-18-04, 08:09 AM An Ouija board is no toy. V good post. They are not a constructive use of your time imo. Love and forgiveness are the real power in the universe and trust me I dont mean that glibly. slotty 06-17-04, 08:16 AM What a load of bollox. If your convinced that there is anything " spiritual" in ouija boards, then do one blindfolded. Have someone take notes of the gibberish your "evil spirits" spell out. "Look" you all scream , " the spirit world has spelt out xn,3w,f945jgmcjfn" " " We have found a dyslexic spirit". Ouija boards were invented in the US in about 1890 as a palour game. From the net: The earliest known patent for a talking board in the patent offices in London, England was filed by Adolphus Theodore Wagner, a professor of music and resident of Berlin of the Kingdom of Prussia. Wagner described his device as a “PSYCHOGRAPH, OR APPARATUS FOR INDICATING PERSONS THOUGHTS BY THE AGENT OF NERVOUS ELECTRICITY” on January 23, 1854. This patent goes on to describe the device and identify it as a talking board. “The apparatus consists of a combination of rods or pieces of wood joined so as to permit of free action in all parts. From one of the legs of the instrument hangs a tracer; on one or more of the other extremities is fixed a disc, upon which the operator is to place his hand, and from this extremity or these extremities depends another tracer. The other parts of the apparatus consist of a glass slab or other non-conductor, and of an alphabet and set of figures or numerals. Upon a person possessing nervous electricity placing his hand upon one of the discs the instrument will immediately work, and the tracer will spell upon the alphabet what is passing in the operator’s mind.” In 1861 a Frenchman, Allan Kardec, described ouija boards (or talking boards) in his Le Livre des Mediums. slotty 06-22-04, 09:38 PM Its still a load of bollox, some strange force acting on a glass- my ass. Like i said, who`s gonna do one blindfolded? Bloody hell, you lot will tell me next that voodoo is for real! The Flemster 06-24-04, 04:56 AM That voodoo that you do. I'm considering doing a ouija board later tonight. Seriously! I've never done one. I am, however, going to do it alone, with only a dv camera for company. What sort of shite can I expect to happen? (A rare serious question from The Flemster!) The Flemster. My Sexy Blue Feet 06-24-04, 05:26 AM tell me how it goes. I'm kinda curious myslef Rick 06-24-04, 09:28 AM Km Posted : I tend to agree. Please explain How?(in italics) bye! The Flemster 06-25-04, 12:32 PM tell me how it goes. I'm kinda curious myslef Suprise suprise! A whole night's worth of taping with just me and a ouija board and bugger all happened! Someone else might know. cool mom 06-25-04, 11:09 PM :D PLEASE tell me there wasn't another thread like this, for some reason I think there was. Anyhoo does anyone have any stories related to the Ouija board? :D yes, I do... A friend and I had been talking on the Ouija board for several months. She had exhusband that she wanted bad things to happen to and a boyfriend she wanted to have good luck with. We were talking to a bad spirit (the mother of her current boyfriend). The spirit did not want her to be with her son. She gave us instructions of a ritual to trade my friends ex for her son. Then they could be successfully together. We made a copy of her exhusband's picture and buried it face down. We were half way up a steep hill on my fathers farm, in a wooded area. We placed candles around the site, but they were red because we had no white ones. We both took sticks and circled the spot where we buried his picture while saying "Sara, we give you Anthoney" three times. Afterwhich the leaves on the trees surrounding us were waving at us, but the wind was not blowing. It felt as if they were telling us bye, get out of here. We picked up our candles and tried to run down the hill. But something was holding us back. We couldn't run. We stopped and looked at each other and said let's get out of here. We both said we cant move. After a few minutes we finally made it out of the woods. As soon as we passed the clearing we were released and ran as fast as we could back to my house. Our hearts were beating fast. Right away we got back on the board. Sara said she got him. Later we talked to our favorite good spirit and he said the reason we could not run was because we used red candles instead of white, but we were ok. Since then Anthoney has has a miserable life and almost died by accidents three different times. slotty 06-26-04, 06:47 AM :D :D yes, I do... I`m sorry, but this is total bollox. you just got freaked out by your own little ritual.Their are no evil spirits ,demons, telekinetic forces, etc. "Anthoney" would of had these "accidents" without your ouija board. What exactly was holding you back? Your "favorite good spirit" actually told you, you used the wrong candles eh? Total bullshit. stuff057 01-23-05, 04:00 PM you say its not real bout how do u explain the people asking the spirit ?s and it happening. how do u explain the people who werent involved and didnt know others were using a ouija board and ask questions about sounds they heard in the night that were heard by the people playing. and with the blind fold thing i think it doesnt work because the spirit has to be within u some what to move it with their fingers so the only way the spirit can do it is with seeing through their eyes. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee slotty 01-23-05, 10:01 PM Its called life, and in life shit happens. I think it would be pretty easy to prove or disprove this phenomenon either way - try out a ouiji board for yourself, prehaps use a couple of different locations/settings each time and rotate the people you do it with each session. See what happens - bishbashbosh, job done. Personally ive done one so im agnostic on the issue. jessiej920 02-01-07, 10:21 PM When I was really young, around 12, my friend and I were fucking around with an ouija board just for fun. We had taken a lamp and set it on the floor next to us and took off the shade and screwed in a black light, you know, to set the mood. We asked the ouija board if anything bad was going to happen that night and it said "yes". Being young and dumb we got all scared. Suddenly my friend turned and looked at the black light next to us and all of sudden *POW*, it exploded in her face and cut her forehead really bad. Probably not supernatural, but definitely a weird coincidence. The truth is, I don't really believe in the ouija board, there is no true way to tell if someone is or isn't moving the piece with their fingers. |
