Obviously, whether or not you or any moderator wishes me to be a part of their forum is their prerogative alone, and that is as it should be. But the language here was clearly an affront.

My question is, why is that one would choose to use such language?

Why should anyone reading the Philosophy Forum be exposed to this, and from a moderator no less?

I am both stunned and disheartened.

If the consensus among participants here is that those overseeing this forum will cater to the lowest denominator – then that is what you will have. So that only those expelling crude comments and condescending remarks, without regard for others, will feel at home here.

And of course those not wishing to be a part of that environment – won’t.

Thanks for an interesting read every now and then. Thanks for inspiring me to take a greater interest in philosophy. Thanks for helping to broaden my taste in music (the Pixies, remember?). Thanks for proving to me that there is yet hope for humanity.

It was quite err-some for Xev to write what she did. Not that I'm joining sides, but I do think it needs to be stated that there was nothin wrong with the thread Jocariah started or within his post. An although there have been other threads started much less inline with the theme of the forum she thought it nessaccery to close the thread after only three inappropiate replys, two of which where from her. His post in that one was one of the few post on sciforums that I found to be somewhat enjoyable in an informative way. I've used similiar methods to attempt to convey an elusive point to a less discerning audience.

Just because some ones what you might consider extremely aversive, as (if he's serious) Jocariah seems to be. Dosen't mean you can't converse with them, or even that they don't have anything enlighting or useful to contribute. If I were to discriminate agianst those who I deemed cognitively defeciant, and/or mentally less stable than me, there would be very few people I could interact with.

"Unintelligible"? Maybe, I haven't read all of his post. The one I refered to in my previous post might be taken to suggest a descriptive word quite opposite. I may eventually read more of his post, but the ones I've seen thus far seemed quite intelligible, that is of course assuming the reader has a complementary aptitude.

Oh, and if you really want to peruse a forum were there are supposedly only intelligent people, you might try joining one of the online high IQ societys, that is of course assuming you qualify. Being that you have to score within the top 5% for Several of them (only a score of 126 usually) I wouldn't think you would have to much trouble.
