View Full Version : One year of your life as a percentage
mdhislaer 12-16-03, 08:57 PM i am one year old what percent of my life is bas been one year?
100%
and if i am 2 it is 75%
and if i am 3 it is 61.1% of my life.
Why is this. And is it ture. First of all this once again is an abstract idea. one that does not fallow the normal pattern of a normal life strutchure. this is based on an idea that of the acumulative percentige of one year to my life as a hole. so in the first year i have 1 point out of one year. the secent year i have 1.5 points out of two years. so now we take 1.5 and divied it by 2 (to find the percent) and we get .75 or 75%. so on and so forth. any one else get what i am saying. if not please make comments. this is an idea so please tell me how you think. (on the poll)

testify 12-16-03, 10:48 PM I'm kind of lost. How exactly did you get 1.5 from 2 years? Also, how do you get 1 year being 75% of a 2 year olds lifespan? I am VERY confused!
DarkEyedBeauty 12-17-03, 08:43 AM 1-100%
2-50%
3-33.3%
4-25%
5-20%
...Stop me if I'm wrong...
Like me...
20-5%
ElectricFetus 12-17-03, 12:39 PM trying to look at how long a year is to a person? or are you deminstrating a diffrent way of measuring time? like most people don't live to see their 30,000 day or 2,592,000,000 second. If you think about it 2,592,000,000 second does not seem that long since a second passes so quickly but 2,592,000,000 second is equal to 82 years!
Ever notice how life seems to accelerate as you get older? My theory has been that this is because each successive day of your life is a smaller percentage of your whole life as described above. As you get older, years seem more like months because eventually years take up the same percentage of your life as the months did.
i think it's the same principle as an infinite sum or whatever

That can't be YOUR theory.. I remember my psych prof telling my class last year that that was his theory. hmm.. who's original idea is it that everyone's cheating off of?
SoLiDUS 12-18-03, 04:29 AM Mine!
They're guilty of anticipatory plagiarism! :mad:
The prof can have my theory. My Car-NoLarm is up for grabs too. It's just a red blinkling light connected to a battery.

I'd give anything to experience time as I did when I was 10. Man! I still remember complete days as a child but I can't remember what I had for dinner last night.
There must be a way (through meditation or conscience effort or something) to appreciate and value every single minute. Essentially slow up time so that days, weeks, and months would seem to go on forever.
Things were bigger then too. Remember? I’ve been told you can slow down time by being more active and widening your variety of activities and experiences. I sometimes shampoo my hair multiple times because I can’t remember if I just did. If I used a different shampoo every day I might remember all right. The best way I think is to be observant of everything you do, as you suggest. It’s called “waking meditation.” Hard for me to stick with though.

Eventually one secent can be like two and 5 years can be like 5 sec. in time one day becomes less but we still live in that year and we live in on year then we live in two and so on and so forth

Both at the same time. I am saying that one year becomes less of your life via the fourmula below.
n=years lived
i=years callulated(all ways starts at one)
avg=avg+(1/n-(n-i)
do this untill n-i=0

Time is fake. It is like most things of this world a way to rationalize our lives. We wake up not because it is time but yet because we are full of energy. (used to be) man made time because man is ignorinte of infinity we do not understand its grasp. And not untill our father tells us will we.
