I loved this stuff, I stopped reading it after awhile though. I have this really old copy that kind of adds to its mystique.

I liked the story with the battling wizards morphing into different animals, I think it climaxed with one of them turning into an apple's seeds and the other turning into a chicken to eat them all. But of course one seed managed to escape.

Then there's the one with the guy that is prophesized to murder the prince on a deserted island in a year's time (I think?), and he actually becomes good friends with the prince. But then the day that he is supposed to murder him he accidentally knocks a knife into the prince's heart. I found that pretty funny.

there have never been 1001
it originally was 101, but due to a translation error in the begining of 20th century (I think it was then) it became 1001
