It appears that an 86 year-old man mistook the gas for the brakes while driving his car and plowed through a farmers market in Santa Monica, killing eight and critically injuring many more. I have always had a laugh at the old people in front of me, going half the speed limit, and, even at a similar incedent in my town when an old woman ploughed into Woodstocks pizza ("The harder i pressed the brake, the faster the car went!?"). But EIGHT PEOPLE killed is just too far.
My grandoparents knew when it was time to stop driving (thankfully), but i suppose this incedent shows that many of the elderly are incapable of making such a judgement. I'm not sure what, if anything, should be done, but this really pisses me off.
What do you think?
