Viceroy Bremer's (http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=4024471) rather disheveling encounter with uppity Iraqis just wasn't newsworthy last month. Not to worry, sometimes fair & balanced reporting has a bit of delay, coming all the way from the colonies. There's no US manipulation of news happening, right? :bugeye:

What the hell:mad:

Obviously if there are no journalists on the scene to witness an event then there is no particular need to acknowledge its happening. Unless you need to use the event for propaganda purposes, that is. In this case word was probably starting to leak out so they spilled it under the caught-Saddam rainstorm and just prior to the semiannual they're-a-comin'-to-get-us warning (http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/12/19/terror.concerns/index.html).

Speaking of sudden twists in the news, WTF is up with Sharon's retreat and our newfound love for Qaddafi?

I give Kudos to Bremer, good media manipulation. It would have been really bad news before the capture of Saddam. But I think now that Saddam is a rabid dog in a cage. Bremer probably feels on top of the world. Now if he can only fix this Iraq thing...

"White House press secretary, Scott McClellan, said President Bush was not informed about the attack at the time and was told about it only recently. "Based on the circumstances of this incident, I believe there was not a sense that there was a need to inform him" -Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A16371-2003Dec19.html)

Alrighty, then: Bush's Chief Administrator in Iraq comes under fire, but no need to inform the Commander in Chief. Of course the kiss-ass press corps would never follow up the question with "When did Cheney know?" and "Who the hell is running this war, anyway?" :gag:
