OK, I just got two old laptops for free and I'm trying to revamp them into somewhat working condition...
One is original Pentium, 16 megs RAM, and 2 gig HD
The other one is Pentium MMX, and probably similar, not sure because the thing is password protected so I have to crack it (just got em last night and was too lazy).
So my question is...is there a linux distro or BSD that would run efficiently on these? As in something that is either designed to run on old machines or at least just works on them? Download link would be great but advice is welcome too :-D

I have a friend who's running FreeDOS on his p90 laptop...he said he couldn't get anything else to run on it...

You could also try netbsd, I heard you could get almost anything to run it.

I have Debian 3.0 running on an old P166. I couldn't get Xwindows to work so all I have is a command line.

I guess the only option is windows 95.

I'd go with a compatible version of linux. If you plan on reselling the laptops, then go for Windows.
