Hmm, at the expense of being ridiculed as a nerd...I'll do something to perk some people up here.

Alright, let's try this out here. How about if we have two or three people (preferably fantasy, dragon/magic toting fantasy freaks like me) take turns posting in a nice interactive story thread? Anyone up for it?

Note, OOC means Out Of Character, it's when you post as your normal human self and want to chat or comment on the thread. IC means In Character, and this is when you write parts of the story itself.

This OOC Thread is to get people to sign up...so any takers? I'll start off by making up my own character.

------------------------------------------------------------

Name: Dhoran Dhurenix
Nickname, commonly referred to as: Don

Race: mostly human, a portion of his blood is demonic and also a little bit of who-knows-what.

Physique: Height is 5'10'', Weight is 140, body is mostly muscle and bone. Nothing special, no freaky wings or multiple arms or multiple eyes. Oh wait...he has a third eye in the middle of his forehead but he usually keeps it closed, which renders it invisible.

Powers/Magic: He has inherited a source of elemental fire magic, and he has trained hard to harness its power. He can now cast spells as a magician of high rank.

Skills: He is a well trained swordsman, somewhat above average but he rarely bothers to fight physically. He can also fight unarmed.

Description: You see a pale youth before you. He has shaggy black hair tinged with red, and he wears a pair of black trousers and a black cotton shirt. On top of that he wears a grey wool cloak. A sword, perhaps 3 feet long in length and slightly bent but with two edges, hangs by his side and is partially hidden by the cloak. The most remarkable feature is the third eye in the middle of his forehead. When it is visible, it looks like a serpent's eye carved from dark green glass. It glistens when it is open. The youth radiates an aura of power that bears no trace of neither good nor evil. He is expressionless most of the time.

History: Dhoran was abandoned in the streets after his mother saw his third eye appear after five days of his birth. She was a prostitute, and his birth involved some unfortunate incident with a powerful demon, so Dhoran quickly lost interest in his past. He taught himself the skills of the streets, simply to survive in the brutal underworld, and he is now a respected figure there. His problems arose from his inability to control his elemental magic, which began to manifest itself when he was twelve years old, and so after a period of unfortunate accidents he sought the help of a mage. That mage taught him the necessary mental skills to control and channel that elemental power, but he secretly coveted it. He attempted to steal the power but Dhoran slew him and escaped. After taking most of the mage's advanced and ancient magical texts, of course, since they were valuable...

Alright, now if someone would join me...? Jump right in. Make up a character. We'll work something out.

hehe why not?
My character...
Fizznotta Adamus
Most people just call him Fizz, or Fizzy
Race: Human... we think
Physique: approxamitely 15 years old, and maybe 127 pounds. With mostly brown hair, except an odd pure white streak on the left side of his head...
Powers/Magic: More charming and charismatic than anybody you would see on the street... He has limited, but effective psychic powers, partial mind reading, limited precognition, and he seems to know at times what exactly is beyond the next corridor... He can seemingly pass his hand over a lock, and it will mysteriously come undone... Can also "see" an image of a persons memory that they are currently thinking... When he the time calls for it, he can blow a hole through a wall, although not without exhuasting himself in the process... Has incredible willpower to keep going when gravely injured...
Skillls: Handy with a dagger, especially a (magical?) silver one with a blue topaz on the hilt... Handy at dodging nearly anything, unless its a wall he can usually dodge it.
Description: He is maybe 5'11", seeming to not be noticed at all... He appears to blend in with his surroundings much of the time... Always with a smile on his face, He seems to cheer most people around him, even if they . He wears studded leather armor, blackened by some sort of fire... He also has a black cape with a black hood... He wears a leather belt with many pouches, filled with many Interesting surpises.
History: Nobody seems to know his past... They do know, however, there was an incident about 10 years back where a small boy somehow escaped from three guards after he was chained up after a robbery... Nothing much is known about his past... He does, however, talk about a love who he says is travelling somewhere around here, with rather similar powers and is equally as charming...
Hehe you start off the story

Kaldaran Dhanarius
Race: human

He's about 5'10" with dark brown hair, dark eyes. his face and hands are darkly tanned from frequent traveling. Here wears a black mage's robe(this includes an article, can't think of what it's called, a diamond, two corners over his shoulders, one reaching to the bottom of his chest and the other equididstant down his back. If you can't picture what I'm talking about, let me know) trimmed with the gold denoting his rank of archmage. carried over one shoulder is a heavy-looking knapsack. He bears a white oak staff, bound in four places with mythril, the bindings also serve to hold several spellstones of semiprecious materials. Well-worn boots testify to the fact that he walks most places.

He lives in a tower in the Great Mountains on the north-western border of the Draconian Empire(you don't mind me making up places do you? I can change that if nessasary) where he trains not more that two apprentices(they waer the same robe, bronze trimming denotes the rank of apprentice.)

Wait, we need a female character here. Scrap my Dhoran guy. I'll play the female character (sorry Xev! I have to!)

-----------------------------------------------
Name: Claria Geraldina
Race: mostly human, a little bit of elf and demon

Physique: 5'10"
Figure: Har har. Nice try.
Weight: petite, but much more athletic than she looks

Appearance: You see before you a girl with curly, brown hair that looks so soft (you know what I mean) when you look at it. She looks as though she should be in her teens, but it is somewhat difficult to tell her real age. She wears a black, short skirt that has been designed for easy movement, and a shirt of the same material. The only means of protection she seems to have about her are a pair of iron bracelets that fit snugly against her forearms. They do not exude any magical aura, but they contain strong protective enchantments that serve as the equivalent of chain mail. A 2 1/2 foot scimitar, also imbued with magic, hangs by her side. She wears a dark cloak of wool to keep warm and also to conceal her overly pale white skin, which is a bit obvious in the night. She is mostly expressionless.

Powers/Magic: She has been trained as a wizard, elementalist (ice/earth/water), and a illusionist. Her overall magical strength would be about the level of a mage who "has the capacity to be an archmage but does not apply herself".

Skills: She was originally a thief and a rogue, surviving by her wits. Her adamant refusal to turn to prostitution (or so she claims) has forced her to learn thievery skills at a faster pace than her fellow thief apprentices. She also knows quite a bit about swordplay and unarmed combat.

History: She was picked up by a powerful archmage who was some sort of a humanitarian and was brought into a magic school. There, she managed to learn much magic and fail her tests at the same time (a difficult accomplishment), and was constantly transferred from class to class, explaining her wide range of magic.
Although she earnestly denies the rumors about her past (she was constantly hassled during school as a prostitute), it hangs around her like a dark shadow.

Alright, are we ready to roll? If so I'll start a new thread.

-Current Characters-

Zero: Claria Geraldina
Gifted: Kaldaran Dhanarius
man of jade: Fizznotta Adamus
Pollux V: Venator
-------------------------

I'll update this as we go.

Pollux V
12-30-02, 07:35 AM
Name: Venator
Race: Full blooded human male
Physique: 6' 0"
Weight/Build: Strong but not noticeably so

Appearance: When you turned to glance at the man that is Venator you held your breath, for even without speaking a word to his great person you knew that he was both wise and strong. He wears a simple tunic over rippling muscles on his chest, and a simple pair of brown trousers. His beard is only left slightly unshaven and his face is of a handsome man. To look into his silvery eyes is to invite unconsciousness. He carries an ornate battleaxe used by his father in the southern crusades, before he was killed by a great monster. Venator, who was in his teens at the time, seeks vengeance for his father's death, but also has a desire to do good for mankind. He is, in a word: a hero.

Powers/Magic: Extremely dangerous with a sword or an axe, can also use a bow and arrow as well as the primitive guns of the time. Does not possess any paranormal skills but does know of the few spells that do not require magic running through the blood. They include simple abilities to heal others or to scare off monsters.

History: Already more-or-less discussed.

Ready to roll.

Uh, this could be called a game but the main point is to create a good story that everyone will enjoy.

A few notes:

There is no set GM. You can introduce your own characters and complications.

Please, please, PLEASE, resist the temptation to "god mode". No godlike powers or characters that just flick away attacks with their pinky fingers. Please. It ruins the whole thing.

After four or five people get into a single group, it is generally advisable for future participants to post in the OOC, wait till someon else tags along, and start up an alternate storyline in the IC. Try labeling posts "group B" or something. Reply to this post if you don't get the idea. Too many people in the same stor cause a wee bit of confusion.

Also, please, please, PLEASE use proper grammar and spelling, and please post in paragraph form. Use quotation " marks in dialogue, and try to put dialogue on separate lines.
"Like this. Thanks."

That's about it...this does take some seasoned RPers to lead it along but I've seen newbies surpass veterans.

Welcome you all who joined, and as for future participants let's work something out eh? PM me.

We make up our own world as we go. But I'll drop a few suggestions as starters. See you IC.
