I remember my elementary school had a nurse with a green low plastic covered bench/couch. She wore a uniform with a sweater, etc. It looked just like a Dr office.
Why don't they have those anymore? Now they have security guards and metal detectors? Was it a trade? They could only afford one?

we had a retired nurse. I can't imagine she was expensive. <sigh> but I'm sure you're right.

My school was so rough, we had an intensive care ward.

Pff. Mine was so rough the teachers used to hand out flick-knives at break-time.

Yes, my son showers with your soap dropping child. :p lol

Only the private schools in Detroit are without security anymore. The schools here in town are w/o security, but they also don't have a nurse. They did just build a multi-million dollar football stadium though. priorities I guess.

But mine was so rough, our security guards used to hide in the next street.

Perfect set up for a pedophile or child molestors, huh?

And can you imagine the lawsuits if the kid was really sick with something or hurt bad?

true. I once got a call from the school saying my son fell off some playground equipment. In the old days he would have gone to the nurse and she would have checked it out. Instead he went to the office, the secretary said he was fine and sent him back to class. I got home, took one look, and went to the ER. Broken wrist.
I know the school does the best they can with what they have, I just wish they weren't so busy raising some of these people's kids (breakfast, daycare, birthcontrol, etc)

I had a nurse at school too, I think they still have them.
In later years had a private guard too, mostly to keep outsiders away and to stop children sneaking out of classes. Of course, we still did it.

Nurses can sexually molest children.

Nurses can sexually molest children.

anyone can. Lots of teachers have, but they keep hiring them.

Use the internet to teach kids at home that way their parents can handle their ills. ;)
