Nothing new. Indians had started all the wars in the region. This won't be anything new. And no one would be using nukes. So chill and calm down. Nukes are weapons of blackmailing specialy when your enemy have them too. No one is stupid enough to use it. So relax and enjoy the Christmas.
    Merry Christmas

If that is correct, they are a bunch of idiots. They start wars to give away chunks of their land to Pakistan and China (look at map of Kashmir in CNN or MSN)

    Thanks for the secret.

    Kmguru,
They ( indians ) live in delusion that they are super power. I think super power in Poverty and cast system. But you are right. They lost 1962 war with china and 1948 war with pakistan. They think they have a great army of 1 million soldiers but there is a problem, If you read any Airforce monthly or Janes defense journal regarding south asia you will find many articles of Pakistani armed forces regarding how well trained they are and how well organize army they have. They think it is beucase they are dealilng with enemy three times biger their size and superior in numbers and equipments. If you look at israel they are surrounded by enemies and that's why they put special attention to their training with hi tech weapons.

Pakistan was living under sanctions for a long time and now attention is divided with Afghan war and now Indians are really in mode of starting a conflict. It will cause some serious problems for our operation in afghanistan and it could very likely be becuase russians might told indians to do so. Since they don't us to stay in there, they are afraid of us too. And india and russians always been butt budies. I hope things will settle down. But once again I don't think any one will use Nukes. If they will then one can only imagine the destruction since those countries are very densely populated. I was reading in FAS.Org that 10kt of nukes can kill about 2 million or more people if it will hit Delhi or Bombay. It is a scary thought.

I agree. After the India and Pakistan division by the British, Kashmir had a choice of going to either side. They chose India when India (Nehru) offered special status like Puerto Rico. But the Indians then neglected the place and both China and Pakistan lusted for a piece of that beautiful land. Rest is history. When Pakistan took a chunk of the land with the support of US, a super power, Indians caved in. With the largest democracy, if Indians would have been aligned with USA then, we would have a nice US listening base in Kashmir and both Kashmir and India would have been living happily ever after.

Even today, if Indians would allow listening bases for US to monitor Chinese activities and develop a closer relations with US, there will be less tension between Pakistan and India. After all, they are the same people separated by the British with the divide and conquor mentality.

That goes to show you that aligning with the wrong people can have bad consequences. But sometimes, stupidity knows no bounds....

I am not sure about this. Because I think Pakistanis helped us out more then any one in south asia. From the first day they become our allies. And it still goes on. If you remember Pakistani's were the first to lead us to china before them there were no communications and Pakistanis paved the way for us in 70s. Then Afghan war, They helped us out again for 10 years or so. Lets say they were our cold war allies and beeing honest with you, We really dumped them. Even thou they got very little out of all this but we needed them and vice versa. I still think we need to be little bit more neutral when dealing with them since their population ( majority ) still supports us and what they did in past for us. In other hand Indians always been allies with Russians even today they would openly enjoy their relations with them. In indian parliment they openly oppose their goverments decessions regarding their pro American policies. All the news papers and even indian news papers call their goverment Hindu extremisms.

Pakistan do have some elements of extremism but that is mostly in tirbal areas or refugees from Afghanistan. I have yet not met with any Pakistani with pro taliban feelings here in US. They all complain about how horrible afghanis are and they introduce drugs and AK-47 culture in their country. I don't mean to be taking sides here but I study that region for a long time and live their with my father and had chance to communicate with them as well as with Indians. One thing for sure they both hate each other to very extremes. ( Indians and Pakistanis ). But then there are people who like to see peace and don't wana do any thing with Kashmire region. It is a beautifull place from what I have seen on tv so far.

Also I like to point out another thing that Indians did, During height of Afghan and russian war they invaded Siachin mountians, Highest battle ground in the world. 6000m high. They took advantage of Pakistani involvements and took their land. Now they are trying to do same since Pakistan is helping us out and they can't seem to digest this partnership.

Best way to find out more about what is happening is to ask people that are in the middle of power struggles by third parties. In this case to know more about Kashmir go to: http://www.kashmir-information.com/

Yes, I agree that Pakistanis have been a friend to us during the cold war. For some reason Pakistan is having a tough time maintaining a democracy that US cherishes on. They also have difficulty allowing Christianity into the country. It is an Islamic state and not a secular state. It is hard to have a friend that does not have the same values as you do - as a matter of fact, the opposite value of what we cherish. Even today, we are solely dependent on President Musaraf for our relationship. Behind him, there are a large number of fundamentalists that are plotting the destruction of US.

An excerpt from CIA factbook on India:

The Indus Valley civilization, one of the oldest in the world, goes back at least 5,000 years. Aryan tribes from the northwest invaded about 1500 B.C.; their merger with the earlier inhabitants created classical Indian culture. Arab incursions starting in the 8th century and Turkish in 12th were followed by European traders beginning in the late 15th century. By the 19th century, Britain had assumed political control of virtually all Indian lands. Nonviolent resistance to British colonialism under Mohandas GANDHI and Jawaharlal NEHRU led to independence in 1947. The subcontinent was divided into the secular state of India and the smaller Muslim state of Pakistan. A third war between the two countries in 1971 resulted in East Pakistan becoming the separate nation of Bangladesh. Fundamental concerns in India include the ongoing dispute with Pakistan over Kashmir, massive overpopulation, environmental degradation, extensive poverty, and ethnic strife, all this despite impressive gains in economic investment and output.

Bottom Line: I think we should resolve the conflict between India and Pakistan, make Pakistan into a secular and a true democratic country - so that everyone will live happily everafter. If not, the nuclear weapon from pakistan will be controlled by radical Moslems and we will have a disaster in hand.
