This little gem ran on page A14 of today's New York Times, in a collection of other insignificant items called "Briefly Noted." The editors probably figured, correctly, that nobody much would give a damn. :m: Peace.
Whether by suicide bombing, battlefield wounding or Guantanamo suicide, it's still voluntary. Yet, because of their residence at Guantanamo, none of them have been permitted the voluntary option by any of those means.
"bombing, battlefield wounding or Guantanamo suicide, it's still voluntary" We (outsiders) have know way of knowing who many of these people are or their motivations. Their intelligence shelf-life has past, and their stories need daylight. Otherwise, America will have an unreasonably high price to pay for this action too.
Guantanamo Bay: The suspected terrorist supporters or radical supporters, what ever anyone wants to call them, are enduring severe injustices by what supposed to be a democratic defender of rights & laws, our USA. We have disrespected and broke every single law, international and otherwise. The public ignores it because we have been accustomed to recognize that “suspected” is far more precise as “Convicted”. Under the label of “Suspected”, anyone has a freehand at doing what ever without responsibility or accountability. ….In reality, we are not any better than those that take arms against us. The nice part of all this, is that the chance will come to everyone that waits. :m:

Are these individuals prisoners of war or not? If they are then shouldn't internationally agreed standards apply? If there not then shouldn't they be tried or released? More questions than answers I'm afraid... Dee Cee
