A genius is an individual who successfully applies a previously unknown technique in the production of a work of art, science or calculation, or who masters and personalizes a known technique. A genius typically possesses great intelligence or remarkable abilities in a specific subject, or shows an exceptional natural capacity of intellect and/or ability, especially in the production of creative and original work, something that has never been seen or evaluated previously.

I really do not know what was done by anyone here so I cannot say.

I think there are a few people who border on genius in different ways around here.

Personally, I think Tiassa is brilliant. His writing is clean, clear, and intelligent and he often offers insight that others would normally miss. While some may not like the way he moderates, or take up issue with some of the aspects of his life, I think that Tiassa definitely stands out as one of our more intelligent posters. BenTheMan is brilliant in physics, Enmos's photography is amazing, Avatar was a great thinker as is Satyr/Wanderer, gendanken is exceedingly intelligent and knowledgable in the fields of literature and art, superluminal seems to have insights into things other people don't see... There are quite a few very intelligent, creative and insightful people around these forums, and while we may not always agree on things, their input is always a contribution to better side of these forums.

We do however, have a plethora of fruitcakes and woo-woos, but I suspect they are drawn in by the intelligence of some of the posters as well.

    Me, I'm happily average.

Everyone seems to have a "unique" ability of some sort, so I will say everyone is a genius's unto themselves!

I truly believe that everyone has great potential, most people just ignore it. Some people even willfully ignore it, and that's rather pathetic. And there are also those who's ego's overshadow their intelligence making them look like arrogant idiots instead of intelligent human beings. That also happens far too often.

Some are never allowed to grow due to economic, political, educatioal or other things that prevent them from doing so.

If by brilliance you mean the ability to say a simple yes (or no) in 2 paragraphs, I agree.

Well, like all things written... it's up to the reader on how he/she interprets the narative, no? I happen to like people who are more verbose than not. It's the one liners that say absolutely nothing that are more irritating. Or the cutesy little small talk in the middle of posts that are "life experience" interjections that have little to nothing to do with the topic. If I want a social life, I can find that offline... I like forums because of the more serious discussion and people who use it as their only social outlet tend to not be on my list of preferred posters, if you know what I mean.

At least Tiassa doesn't have to beat his chest, or lie about who he is. He's okay being a flawed human, and I respect and admire that. It's pretty rare to see someone who doesn't always put on airs and lead with their ego.

I do, I was just clarifying. I like to find the good in people and let them know that they are appreciated. I like your posts too, Syzygys. I think that often you try to joust with peoples perceptions which does have importance and a bit of the outlaw nature, a quality that I applaud and encourage. Your posts are solid and well written, with a but of wise cynacism as well. Your points come across with little to no misunderstanding, which is also a sign of intelligence. There are posters here who are notable for what they add, and all of them add different things. I think they make up about 10% of the posters on this forum, the rest of the folks just make those 10% look really really good.

In todays world I believe we need to be as concise and to the point as possible. That's why I enjoy those who get down to brass tacks as soon as they can and make it short and sweet. I do not mean to only give one word answers but not narratives about whether or not you like black shoes or white ones.
