Word regularly 'auto-saves' working doc's so that they show up in recently accessed file views. You miiight be able to revive your file, if, and only if, you haven't emptied your Temp files. Check there.

p.s.: This thread should be in the Computer Science section ffs.

A mother holds her child who is crying. He is crying because he is on the verge on dying from starvation and all his mom can do to comfort him is hold him and hope. Hope, and wait for food. Mother and child suffer in hunger as the inevitable happen…the slow lingering death of starvation. It doesn’t end there. This is a story affecting millions within Africa. Hunger is defined as many things. From the Webster dictionary, hunger is a craving or urgent need for food or a specific nutrient; an uneasy sensation occasioned by the lack of food; a weakened condition brought about by prolonged lack of food. Africa isn’t the only place that has starvation problems. Here are people starving in other countries too, like the U.S.A, but this essay will focus on hunger within the confines of Africa. This Essay will examine the reasons for famine, the impact of famine, The Effects of famine on the human body, the Social impact it has, the country’s most affected, and the outlook.

Reasons for famine
There is no single reason why famine exists in Africa. There are combinations of reasons which can be attributed to the level of severity that hunger effects Africa. A major contributor of famine is the lack of farmable regions within Africa due to desertification. Every year the desert In Africa expands. The encroachment of the arid sandy climate of the desert over once farmable land is called desertification. The result is less land to cultivate food to feed the local population. According to the wikopedia dictionary, desertification is the degradation of ground in arid, semi arid and waterless sub-moist areas ensuing from a range of factors as well as climatic variations and human being activities. Present desertification often arises from the demands of increased populations that settle on the land in order to grow crops and graze animals.
Another reason that there are food shortages is the increase in the number of draughts. As stated in the web site http://www.drought.unl.edu. Reduced crop and forest/wildlife growth , increased fire risk, reduced water levels are just a few of the problem’s droughts cause all this has a domino effect. This makes it hard to near-impossible to farm, further reducing the food supply that country can grow. Africa has no irrigation systems unlike Israel which has a great irrigation system...
A further problem is peopling getting sick with AIDS/HIV and other sickness that in turn prevents them from working in farms and other jobs further ruining the economy of that country and putting them into poverty. It’s a loop, it never ends. An extra problem to add to the stack is wars and civil conflicts are common. The death loop.
Economic Impact Of famine
People cant work if there starving to death. So they can’t produce food, there productivity is low, and less output=Less trade with Africa affecting the rest of the world. It is a vicious cycle: Africa is kept poor because of low out put of supplies (food, goods ECT) No influx of new tech or resources from other country’s further worsening the situation in Africa. And unless some one throws in a hammer into the gears that keep the loop moving nothing is going to change. The consequence of HIV makes the working population smaller. Some Country’s are providing help, for example the U.S gives free medication and drought resistant corn although some people argue the pharmaceutical companies are actually testing new drugs there first but that’s for a different essay. All this is doing is throwing stones at the gears that’s it. We need the the jackhammer.

The Effects of famine on the human body
There are many negative effects on the human body for famine. Famine people will experience memory lost , reduced energy impaired sight from not getting enough vitamins , reduced bone density , sensitivity of the stomach to normal food and possibly fainting and famine for very very long periods of time could lead to death , there are Physiological Effects such as depression , (from http://www4.cord.edu) Apathy , Depression , Mental restlessness , An obsession with the attainment of food , Self-centered actions , An indifference towards others .The effectiveness of the body's immune system lessens. Victims of famine had spongy gums, their teeth fell out, their joints became bloated and painful, and blood vessels which ruptured under their skin formed dark blotches. Famine can become extremely painful.

Social
There are lots of Social effects on hunger, poverty and famine. Families have many children. They have the highest birth rate and the highway mortality rate, a sad cold fact. One of the other things is that the extended family and family usually live in the same house. It’s de-humanizing to watch your friends and fellow citizens dying of starvation.

Country’s most affected
All of Africa’s countries have a famine problem but some have it the worst. The Following information is provided by BBC NEWS. Sudan has 4+ million people in need of urgent help , Zimbabwe has 4+million people in need of help , Malawi has 4+ Million people in need of urgent help, Niger has 3-4 million people of help Dr Congo as 2-3 million people in need of help Etiopia has 1-2 million people in need of help. Tens of millions of people across further than half the states in sub-Saharan Africa need vital food aid. And the gears keep moving.
Last Effects
In 10 years from now, I do not see anything happening except the situation to get worse. Something major has to happen in order for the situation in Africa to change drastically .Not much is being done about it. Famine will get worse, Violence and conflicts will spread, droughts will continue. Overall the outlook 10 years from know does not look good.

To end world hunger it would take about 11 of are most high-tech spy planes or around 111 billion to end all the pain. The change’s would need a few years to come about when (if we ever) we get that kind of money. I would spend 10 billion on developing the infrastructure (roads interstate shipway’s zoos, skyscraper’s ECT) 50 billion for food and pour the rest into the economy.
Conclusion
A lot of work need’s to be done to fix the many hunger related problems in Africa. Africa is a under developed country. We have examined reasons for famine, the impact of famine, The Effects of famine on the human body, the Social impact it has, the country’s most affected, and the outlook. You should have learned a lot. As you can tell Africa’s problems are all intertwined with each other, it’s a continuing cycle that has no end in sight. I predict in 25 years hunger will almost be completely gone in Africa but for how we can get there, it will require a lot a work and just a tap of patience.

The purchasing of new clothes becomes and economic burden.....

With the poor's inabilty to feed themselves, weight loss, and inabilty to afford new clothes comes the tragic need for belts---which are extremely valuable in those regions, and only the wealthy are able to afford them.

I think the lack of belts is an important topic to explore within the essay.

If I am not mistaken, I think you can set up Microsoft Word to auto-save your work every minute or two. That has always worked for me, and I have had a couple crashes like yours where I was especially grateful for auto-save.

How do you do that? That could be useful for me as well. But then again, I might have it set that way already. I've observed that Word has an unsaved document 'saved' for me if my computer shuts down for some reason.

You probably lost it. When Word crashes or closes itself for some other reason there is always a temp file, a duplicate file produced by Word. If no save location is given, it has some odd name and is in the word main directory. You could check that directory, the file is called [something].tmp. Just open it with "open with..." and find the Word application. But if I'm not mistaken, Word deletes the temp file when you close without saving.

Why not give the starving millions a jar of treacle each, they could smear a wee drop of it on their lips so the flies stci to it , then they lick their lips and hey presto they have a mouth full of protein

problem solved

Or maybe they can just eat the treacle? Whatever that is...

Or if they're okay with eating bugs, well, it's their diet. *shrugs*
