How flipping great are noodles?

They're cheap, ridiculously easy to make, very tasty and filling.

There may be some health issues with the amount of salt, but that's beside the point...

My favourite brand is Nissin noodles. I get them at an Asian supermarket in Glasgow called SeeWoo. The supermarket is quite good fun even if you don't buy anything: the live seafood providing amusement.

Anyway.. 28p (about $0.50) per pack. They're fan-fucking-tastic :D Especially the pork flavoured ones.

What are your favourite noodles?
Do you have any exciting/cheap/easy way of making a meal with them?
What do you add?

Though very very bad... I like to cook TWO packs (that's four servings of carbs) of different flavors. Usually it is Oriental and Beef.

You filthy so and so. TWO packs? :D
What does oriental taste of? Sounds like there'd be some soy sauce, but I can't figure out what else.

Not too keen on pot noodles myself. I think they're a bit overpriced and not that tasty. There was a period of time where I got through quite a few though. My sister did some job at T in the park and was given about 40 pot noodles for some reason.

What flavour do you like? I go for chicken and mushroom usually, but can be tempted by the nice n spicy (?).

Their website is pretty snazzy though and I'm loving the music on this game - http://www.fuelofbritain.co.uk/ It's full of 'tips' that basically tell you to eat pot noodles as often as you can.

I'm off them. I'm in to pasta now, which I prefer to noodles, and with the 3 min variety you can knock up a really nice pasta dish in 10 mins.

Hmm, they're alright. For the sake of a couple of minutes, you could make real pasta though.

And, this might be a recurring theme, but really I'm not tight :) - those 3min pasta things are quite expensive for what you get.

Another dish that's amazingly simple, but I quite like is normal white rice (preferably uncle ben's boil in the bag) with a chopped up pepperami mixed in. Simple, but tasty. A little bit of tomato sauce too.

no I mean proper plain pasta, you get a big pack of the stuff, either spag, or tagliatelli, but instead of the normal 12 mins u just have to cook it for 3 mins.

yeh rice is good, but you might aswell go for the brown stuff, healthier.

Ah, I see. Good call.. I haven't seen that stuff before, I'll have to look out for it.
Pasta is great, although I eat that without sauce, too. Some olive oil and you're good to go.

True, but it's not as nice as white rice. And health isn't an issue really. I go to subway a few times a week. Been to McDonalds a few times recently, which I feel like a complete pervert doing. And premade sandwiches out the supermarket for lunch.

I had a healthy streak earlier this year and I felt great, but I let myself slide back into all my old habits. Planning to do it again soon, but winter is seriously putting me off. Last time I went healthy I spent a lot of time outdoors on my bike, jogging, walking, etc, but when it's dark, freezing and pissing it down, the idea seems less appealing.

Stir Fry, now that is a miracle. As long as there's no water chesnuts, I'm all good.

Those packs of stir fry vegetables from supermarkets that you just throw in are all good. Nice, healthy-ish meal in no time at all. And Chicken. mmmm

Half a pack is all you really need as far as carbs go. Four is really bad... even the MSG is a no-no.

But the oriental flavor... to tell you the truth I cannot taste the difference between beef and oriental. But for some reason mixing the two tastes better than one flavor.

Eh?

Why don't they make Cheese 'n' Tomato Pot Noodles anymore? I used to love them. The thing I like best about Pot Noodles is that they're food but they don't contain anything resembling food - they're much more than the sum of their parts. It's the kind of thing that I imagine astronauts eat; the food of the future.

I lived on rice and noodles for 15 years in China, then as soon as I came back to the U.S. I gained 20 pounds, nw have high blood pressure, and my cholesterol soared to critical levels. They telling me I should go back to China!

Now you post a thread on noodles. Gosh darn it: just makes me hungry thinking about it! I'm logged out and on the stove. Bye.
