http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7241296.stm A leading retailer in Singapore has withdrawn a cosmetics range with a Jesus theme after complaints from local Roman Catholics, local media report. The range, named Lookin' Good for Jesus, was on sale at three Topshop outlets in the Asian city state. Catholics complained the cosmetics' marketing was disrespectful, full of sexual innuendo and trivialised Christianity. ... The products included a "Virtuous vanilla" lip balm and a "Get Tight with Christ" hand and body cream, featuring a picture of Christ flanked by two adoring women. Substitute the word "Mohammed" for "Jesus Christ" and I bet someone ends up getting hurt. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Pussies capitulating to Pope Benny! I'd buy it! You should see what I plan on marketing. I can't say what it is, because someone with more marketing know-how and front money than I have will beat me to it. Suffice it to say, it will make sandy have an aneurysm. I can hardly wait to figure out all the legal stuff I have to deal with to get this on the shelves.
lol okay is the juicy lip balm for yourself or your wife? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I would buy it just to support the irreverence - and likely give it as gifts to friends who would appreciate it. I think it's fantastic. Just like http://www.jesusdressup.com/ and http://www.normalbobsmith.com/store/magnets.html. A friend of a friend created that, and I think it's fantastic (as many others do, since it is selling quite well).
lol I guess it would make for a good gag gifts. Hey if it sells and you can make money off it, why not.
That's obvious disrespect. People need to have morals and respect. Even if the Christians rioted, they have that right to when they are being mocked.
People have a right to riot because someone makes a joke? Do you support burning down movie theaters that play Monty Python movies? Have you seen anyone about your rampant agression problem?
Weird, yet I don't think they should do anything, despite the chrurch's complaints. Freedom of speech!
Even if it was intended just to disrespect (which does not in itelf preclude light-heartedness) does that justify rioting and the injuring, and possible death of who knows how many innocent people? That's what happens at riots, you know. So, if someone tells a joke about the Virgin Mary, and a Catholic who finds it offensive starts a riot that ends up buring your house down with your fanily in it while you are at work, would you see that as a justified response?
No because I haven't done anything. Those who intend disrespect should be prepared to face the consequences. And those that have been disrespected should only deal with those arrogant people who caused that disrespect. If you go around being an arrogant ass, someone will come and end up in a fight
Thats true. I think people that create this stuff are cowards anyway. So i dont see why he would say it takes balls. Maybe realy little ones- raisin sized ones. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Although the OP one is not really bad.
What do you think happens in riots? Do you think they are orderly, polite and directed? Have you ever seen a riot? Innocent people get hurt and die. Even if the ones who get hurt and killed are only the ones who portrayed the supposed offense, a joke justifies violence? You are seriously disturbed. Please explain what's cowardly about it. It takes balls to go forward and express yourself in the way you wish and stand toe to toe against the Catholic church, which is the richest and one of the most powerful organizations in the world.
