View Full Version : Newton's laws of motion neelakash 09-07-07, 06:49 AM My question is which law of Newton is the most fundamental? I am talking of the laws of motion... rian.wrenn 09-07-07, 07:20 AM Briefly stated, the three laws are: An object in motion will remain in motion unless acted upon by a net force. Force equals mass multiplied by acceleration. To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The most fundementall according to newtons journal is the third one "every action..." is this 4 school cuz we were asked that yesterday neelakash 09-07-07, 08:59 AM What is Newton's Journal??? I also suspect the same... However,I did not understand anything of: is this 4 school cuz we were asked that yesterday rian.wrenn 09-07-07, 06:28 PM What is Newton's Journal??? I also suspect the same... However,I did not understand anything of: I dont know if he really had a journall but it was in my text book that he said it, no real quote, but u know O and i ment that two days ago we were asked in school what, according to newton, was most fundementall to the advancemant in the field neelakash 09-07-07, 10:41 PM I see... James R 09-09-07, 11:19 PM Laws 2 and 3 are probably equally important. Law 1 can be viewed as a consequence of Law 2, although in the context of relativity it is perhaps more fundamental. Law 2 effectively defines what we mean by "force". And Law 3 tells us that all forces are interactions. neelakash 09-10-07, 12:59 AM I wish you to refer to another thread http://www.physicsforums.com/showthread.php?p=1423627#post1423627 I do not know whether it is breaking the law of the forum. But, I am also a member of this forum where I am discussing this question. This will help to see my viewpoint.
