To add a signature, click on the "profile" link (directly underneath the "Post New Topic" / "Post Reply" buttons). You can modify your profile & signature there.

(modifying the CGI)

I could whip up a hack for this situation, you would hafta send me your

ubb_library2.pl (deals with the posts)

or if you would rather not send me a copy of ur cgi file, i have one stored on my cpu (mine is v5.39a so i dunno if it would be compatible with yours)

I could do the following for you (if you want it done that is)

-ICQ online/offline status indicator
-users password viewable from Control Panel (user permissions area)
-Users rank customizeable (ie "junior member" could be changed to whatever you want)
-many many more ...

(BTW all the ubb hacks i know how to do have been tested on my UBB, and if you didn't know: ubb code hacking is legal hacking :) - it mearly is a shorter term for "modifying CGI code")

However, I've stayed away from UBB code hacking, mainly because it makes upgrading very difficult.

The only hack I ever saw that truly impressed me was a 'private message' system that let users send private messages back and forth between each other. That totally blew me away.
That's the sort of thing I remember having on the very first bulletin board I ever joined, back before the internet became popular (ahh... reminiscence :) )

However, Vanja's problem could be solved without hacking the code. you just need to insert an HTML anchor in the footer along with a corresponding link somewhere in the header.

ya, good point. I was thinking of adding an anchor but going into the library2.pl and creating a link to it. But your way sounds easier because it can be done thru the control panel. And about upgrading, I thought there was a way to keep the ubb hacks & still be able to upgrade (I may be wrong)

nope. sorry. for every upgrade, you'll need to reinstall the hacks, unless you're fortunate, and the upgrade doesn't involve the particular UBB files that you've hacked.

Well then I guess i won't be upgrading :)
