As each day passes, it seems things just get more bizzare. It seems the Republican candidate, Paladino has been spreading unsubstanciated claims about his Democrat opponent.

So reporter Fred Dickers (New York Post) tries to get Billionaire Republican canididate Paladino to support his claims against his Democrat opponent.

    http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2...s-attack-on-reporter-following-confrontation/

Paladino never provides any proof of his wild ass claims. But Paladino does threaten to off the reporter. Apparently Paladino travels complete with a goon squad. You get to see them attempt to intervene at times.

As the Republican Party becomes more and more extreme it seems American politics are becoming more and more bizzare.

Boy you certainly like to JUMP to conclusions.

His saying that he is going to 'take you out' is not the same as "I'm going to have you killed".

A more likely meaning, since he was saying it on camera, was that he is going to get him fired.

LOL, the traditional meaning of "offing someone" is to kill them. To say otherwise as you have done is just plane silly. You are still defending Republican candidate O'Donnel despite overwhelming evidence that she lied about her credentials.

Are you by any chance a "birther"?

Now what evidence do you have that the term offing means to get one fired? If you look up the term off in the dictionary, it means to kill. There is no where in that definition that it means to get someone fired.

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/off

"completely; utterly: to kill off all the inhabitants"

joe, did he say "off"? I would watch the video again but i didnt hear that the first time. i heard "take you out", which is common to meaning "take you off the reporter list". Something this reporter did set this guy off and it is fair that people have their say without getting railroaded.

I am not on the side of Republicans as i have been a lifelong Democrat but frankly we cant shut people down from speaking their minds or even demonstrating. Once you do that you take us down the road to dictator or king even. Who wants this?

You are not fooling anyone with the Democrat story John. Are you endorsing a candidate for public office...more specifically governor...threatening a member of the press?

The something that set the Republican candiate off was a request to support his allegations that his opponent was having an affair. Paladino has been long on this accusation but has never been able to substanciate his claims.

It seems to me that asking a candidate for public office a question is not grounds for murder.

It's pretty clear from the heated exchange in the video what "Take you out. "
    "How?"
    "Watch." -- means.

I don't know why you guys are trying to say it means, take him off the reporter list.

You may as well have claimed he meant, "I'm going to take you out. First a movie... maybe some dancing..."

    C'mon.

I am a Democrat and hoped Hillary Clinton became President. Though i was not crazy about a Bush,Clinto,Bush,Clinton legacy because that is too much like royalty but the woman would have been a fair and firm President. Frankly the sexist remarks from these "so called" liberals is just too much for me to be comfortable with. I dont sit on a bar stool calling women "******" because none will have sex with me either. But i dont dislike Obama either.

People say things in the heat of the moment. It is no different than saying "I will F'ng kill you" because you cannot charge someone for saying that...AFAIK. TBH, people looking to that to another dont broadcast it or make an announcement so it is a figure of speech... albeit bad speech.

No Joe. Just like you got the terminology wrong you are getting this wrong. He didnt get angry for asking him to support his claims he was already angry because there is a history between these two guys and tbh, looking at the reporters face he knew he may have crossed the line elsewhere.

Well you know what? I know one thing and that is that the radicals are setting up the scenario for repuplicans to win a lot of elections because people see through the deceptions so sometimes its best to tread lightly.

Paladino says his net worth is about 150 million and I saw no reason to not believe him. He seems to have made the majority of his money developing sites for Rite-Aid stores.

He seemed like a kook in a few ways when I read about him. I like that he got wealthy by his own efforts from humble beginnings. His dad was a water meter reader born in Italy. Paladino did not get rich by climbing some corporate ladder and then ripping off the stockholders.

Did you really just say what I think you said?

    You know what?
    I'm a registered Republican.

Does that mean I think that all Democrats are bad and I should support all Republicans?

I get DAILY SPAM from GOPUSA, all practicing heavy smear campaigns and usually filled with twaddlespeak.
I think Palin is a frikkin Moron- along with Christine O'Donnell
They're both about as smart as Hilary Clinton- Morons, the whole lot.

Political partisonship doesn't mean you get to shut your brain off.

    Thats nice.

I guess that is up to you.

Neverfly, why dont you think the male candidates are "frikkin morons". I think you are not used to seeing women as politicians. My own philosophies lean toward Democrat but does not mean i dont give others a fair shake. I see no reason to comment on the way they dress, do their hair or any sexual comments because i really dont care.

    How about Bush?
    Cheney?
Trust me, there's plenty of both in either camp.

And if this buffoon, Paladino, can't handle one reporter pressing him about his mud slinging tactics, then he doesn't belong in a position of power.

I find it funny, all of the Republicans running to defend this kind of misbehavior. Imagine if a Democrat had behaved as badly as Paladino or O'Donnel. The very same people in this thread defending Palidino and O'Donnel would be outraged. But when a Republican does it, they go way out on a limb to defend him/her.

This isn't a "Republican Party" thing. It's a New York politics thing. I actually live in New York and things have been running this way since the 1970's. Welcome to 2010. You people who for the first time ever now read about Paladino, who New Yorkers have known well for twenty years, while you also ignore the past huge contributions to the rather cut-throat political culture in this state, can be pretty idiotic sounding at times. Mario Cuomo, the New York governor of the 90s and the father of the Cuomo who is now running, acted the same way then as Paladino is now. This is called having two Italian New Yorkers vying for governorship. Stop acting surprised.

Except he didn't say what you claim he said.

He never said he was going to OFF anyone.

    Arthur

ps Nice try at a smear campaign, but your "overwhelming evidence" is only in your imagination.

For those not involved in NY state politics, let's take a simple tally:
    Cuomo
    1)Family governing experience.
    2)?
    3)?

    Paladino
1)Family man adamant about his child's safety.
    2)Illegitimate child.
3)Anger remarks at reporter feeds ethnic/organized crime stereotype.
    4)?
    5)?

Nice try Arthur, you would not recognize a defect in a Republican candidate if it bit you in the rear. You have steadfastly refused to acknowledge evidence that O'Donnel lied about her credentials and now extending it to other Republican Candidates.

It is very clear from the tape that Paladino threatened to kill the journalist who asked a very legitimate question. The reporter asked if Paladino could back up his claims that his Democrat opponet was having an affair.

It would seem to me the simple answer would be to answer the question rathter than threatening to off the guy. And you have not answered my question, are you a birther?
