View Full Version : New Star Trek to be "Absurdly Bad" Prince_James 03-03-07, 09:23 PM http://news.yahoo.com/s/eonline/20070228/en_tv_eo/b3ea9976_ddad47f6_b0e8_f8f599de18e3 Kirk and Spock as teenagers. Janus58 03-03-07, 11:21 PM More rumors: http://www.trektoday.com/news/270207_01.shtml One of the ironic things is that if they do end up using the actor mentioned to play the younger McCoy, he will be actually older than DeForest Kelley was when he started playing the role. Mr.Spock 03-04-07, 05:22 AM this will be bury trek forever :bawl: Xelios 03-05-07, 03:28 AM Depressing, to be honest. Prince_James 03-05-07, 06:15 AM I'm down with ST and just so frustrated by the lack of good ideas. Sandoz 03-05-07, 10:37 AM Please, just kill them all and be done with it. Saquist 03-05-07, 01:42 PM I'm begining to agree with you... Nikelodeon 03-05-07, 05:25 PM Well I'd like to see it first before deciding whether its crap or not. Janus58 03-05-07, 06:08 PM I'm not sure how many of you are aware of it, but the idea of going back to Kirk's and Spock's academy years is not a new one. It was going to be the plot of the sixth Star Trek movie (After The Final Frontier). A script was written and everything. Then they changed their minds and made The Undiscovered Country. Janus58 03-06-07, 06:46 PM lets hope they'll change their minds again. The situation is a bit different. The last time, all the original cast were able and willing to make another movie. In fact, they, in some instances, led the charge against it. Some of them, while at conventions, leaked the news of the plan and urged fans to write Paramount studios saying that they would rather see a film with the original cast. Of course, if you think that there is enough opposition to this movie among Star Trek Fandom, then by all means, pull a Bjo Trimble and organize your own letter writng campaign. w1z4rd 03-06-07, 07:02 PM Bring on transwarp! stop going backwards! darksidZz 03-06-07, 07:09 PM Hi! I'm completely dumb-founded, what exactly is so difficult about writing a story that doesn't suck? Are these people brainless puppets of the corporate giants?! Here's a nice little script for you..... Explore and investigate strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, boldly go where no one has gone before? Fuck that let's just travel back to Kirk and Spocks training days then make a series off that, simple and not expensive :-P I can think of about 1 million storylines for it to follow, the new series, would can call it Star Trek: Rise Of An Empire then tell a story about a faction of Starfleet that goes on to become even more powerful than the original one, it could setup its own solar system... How about an extinct race is found and Starfleet thinks they're harmless insects, then decides to try cloning them, they turn out to be parasites that can invade and take over human hosts or any hosts, but have gills in the back of their neck? Pretty fucking cool I'd say.... What about a time traveler from the future bringing a warning to a future version of Starfleet, only to find himself confronted by the federation and killed? Then the question is left "why was he here?". How about a tale of a Starship that travels in dimensions and each dimension different universal laws apply? Enterprise-D 03-07-07, 08:50 AM I've said it before, this harking back to old is not conducive to successful Trek. It should have been painfully obvious after the flop that was ST:ENT. darksidZz, I agree with you wholeheartedly...and I guess that's why a Roddenberry partner tried to sue Paramount for allowing the franchise to decay lol. At any rate, future scope series should be the easiest to write for, since you have no limiters except imagination. I for one would have liked seeing Riker's new ship introduced maybe on a joint mission with Voyager. What about a Q movie??? A Trek movie from the perspective of Q and the Continuum could be a grand idea. I find it difficult to believe that absolutely no trek actors would do another movie. Even if none of the regular cast responds, a Q movie for example would be a great way to move forward with other Fed ships. John deLancie would probably be game, but even if he isn't....Qs can change appearance! I think this is a plot by powerful Warsie supporters to bring down Trek with their prequel lackluster response :p (jk). Ep I,II,III had mixed reviews for some reason...I enjoyed them tho. fLuX 03-07-07, 04:14 PM I think its incredibly bad timing to be doing a movie on the 'old days' of star trek considering the series Enterprise was the most recent edition to the ST universe. Isn't it called "Star Trek" for a reason? Discover the universe? in space? Didn't Kirk and Spock also meet -on- the Enterprise, being Spock was on the Enterprise as the science officer to Pike? It shouldn't even be called Star Trek. It should be "Star Fleet Academy", filled with girl problems and life lessons through puberty, which more to me sounds like its an edition on the thursday night line up of the WB, after smallville. ~_~ (But smallville rocks............) Nikelodeon 03-09-07, 11:50 AM "Star Fleet Academy" Mmmmm...an idea for the next Star Trek series? Enterprise-D 03-09-07, 12:07 PM Actually that's not bad! Maybe they should have done Starfleet Academy instead of ST:ENT...I would have loved that...once it were on the calibre of Smallville for example spidergoat 03-09-07, 01:03 PM You can't really complain about the show if it hasn't been made yet. They could easily do some time travel thing and create any scenerio you can imagine. G. F. Schleebenhorst 03-12-07, 05:24 PM Whatever it is, it's got to be better than that one with the whale. MetaKron 03-18-07, 07:25 AM I knew that at least parts of Voyager would suck when they had to steal an idea from freaking Ice Pirates, for God's sake. Enterprise was pretty solid science fiction and I don't know what people thought was wrong with it. |
