Just had an idea how the New Posts page could be improved. If you put a Mark Forums Read link there. If there's nothing interesting there to read, I have to go back to main forum page and do it. Unless I'm missing something, in which case maybe a gentle nudge would be in order.

And maybe one more suggestion. When using forum tools in a specific forum to mark the forum read, maybe you could have it dump you back on the main page instead of the subforum group. You might have reasons to do it this way (cuts down on bandwidth or some such); if so, never mind.

Porfiry,
Have you seen this thread?
By the way, instead of starting a new thread, I'll post another idea I had here.
It might be nice to put links to the forum directories at the bottom of the page as well as the top. It's kind of a pain having to either scroll to the top or press home when done reading a long page.
I like that last idea too, I.N. If it's not too much of a problem to do that maybe Porf will give it a go. Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean with the first idea.
Cheers
Teri

Teri,
The new posts is a link you can choose at the top of the page. It shows all new posts in one (or more) pages. It would be nice to be able to mark them read at this point instead of going back to the main page to click on mark forums read. By the time you get back to the main page, there might be new posts that you will miss because you marked them read. Should be an easy addition as well.

Well, I gave myself a fix for this problem by making a link to http://www.sciforums.com/forumdisplay.php?do=markread on my bookmark bar. So, now I can just click it whenever I want to mark all posts read.
My latter two suggestions would still be nice to be implemented though. Especially the latter one. It is a hassle scrolling to the top and/or pressing home each time.
