There seems to be a lot of bitching going on around here lately, and I hate to add to it. But what's up with this new pseudo-nazi mod avatar?
http://www.geraldscarfe.com/netprotect.asp?fol=4&pic=crossedhammers_lg.jpg
I sort of understand the idea of making it easier to know who's a mod, but it limits the mods individuality. And I can no longer tell at a glance who's who. Not to mention that the pseudo-nazi imagery might tend to set the wrong tone.

Perhaps the mods could keep the picture of their choice and just have "mod" below the picture?

Mad you missed the point, its OUR protest against certian members.

If people want to winge about yoda sticking his finger up or bells bending over then we will show you all exactly what it is going to be like if we all look the same

Viva la revolution

(have a look at plazma's poll on wether we should ban avatars)

Ah, I see. Well, I hope your protest is brief. When I first saw the double hammer's as Tiassa's avatar, I thought it was pretty cool. I've always been a pink floyd fan, and it reminds me of an old flame from high school who painted a picture of the scene with the marching hammers in The Wall. But then I saw that all the mods had it, and was a bit annoyed.

Asguard

On the contrary. A member has filed a complaint about Asguard's and my respective avatars, claiming both to be obscene and offensive. We could either have ignored her complaints or acted on it. As you can see, we decided to act on it.

I sort of understand the idea of making it easier to know who's a mod, but it limits the mods individuality. And I can no longer tell at a glance who's who. Not to mention that the pseudo-nazi imagery might tend to set the wrong tone.

The reason behind our change of avatars can be found here:

http://www.sciforums.com/showthread.php?t=77952

and here:

http://www.sciforums.com/showthread.php?t=77872

It seems the complaint about our respective avatars has come about as a manner to get even (http://www.sciforums.com/showpost.php?p=1765612&postcount=83) for banning sandy for one day for not heeding previous warnings. So enjoy our monotony and enjoy now having trouble distinguishing who is who.:)

Wasn't your avatar some kind of mushroom or bell or something? I really don't remember? I sure don't remember being offended by it, but then I'm pretty hard to offend. Anyway, Sandy PM'd me to say she's out of here, so no need to teach her a lesson.

It wasn't sandy who complained about our avatars. The complaint came as a result of sandy being banned for one day. Apparently it was a means of getting even because of her ban.

Apparently a cartoon of an orange backside bending down with his pants down is highly offensive and obscene.:p Tis funny really.:)

There seems to be a lot of bitching going on around here lately, and I hate to add to it. But what's up with this new pseudo-nazi mod avatar?

It's just our little joke.

We think it is fitting, since there are some members who seem to think that all the moderators are pseudo-Nazi fascists anyway. We're giving them what they want - with a little tongue in cheek.

I sort of understand the idea of making it easier to know who's a mod, but it limits the mods individuality.

But we're not individuals. We're all just part of the moderation machine which rules sciforums with an iron fist! Apparently.

And I can no longer tell at a glance who's who. Not to mention that the pseudo-nazi imagery might tend to set the wrong tone.

We tried friendly and approachable, and look how that went!

Yeah it makes you all look like a bunch of cry babies. Grow up.

Here is what I tested: I picked a random pic of 922 KB size, took a PrintScreen shot of it, copied into the built in Paint progam, then saved it and guess what moron, the size is now after saving it in JPEG form:

we were making a point both in protest against the idiotYou calling Greenberg an idiot but forum members can't call you an assguard without being banned??

the idiot who wanted to get bell's and my avatar bannedHe wasn't canvasing to have any avatar banned for crying out loud. He was merely contrasting two moral effects: the visual connotation as represented in your avatars, and the same forbidden message as denoted in certain words. It was an interesting approach to a problem the forums was having, no? And then that problem got a little bit more complicated, right?

But never mind all that. As I said, the "protest" itself was quite emblematic for the benefit of the more astute members here. Bravo for dropping your pants and mooning us.
