Okay, just thought of this a few hours ago while playint MTW:VI.

I've created a scifi universe (CGU, see thread in scifi section), so why not create "Fantasy" type universe?
Only one catch: no magic. Only the Physical.

Basically, it takes place on a far-off planet, with people and other species. The other species look similar to ours, but bigger, i.e eagles with 50-foot wingspans, 60-foot crocodillians, 120-foot snakes, 1000-kilo wolves, etc. etc. etc.

The people, organized on a continent into kingdoms, have technology similar to 7th and 8th century Europe and Africa.
The humans of the northern plains regions are a fair-haired and fair-skinned peoples, hardy and strong, and excellent navigators...like the Saxons and Vikings.
The humans of the mountainous middle region are dark-haired and light-skinned, master tradesmen, tall and heavyset mostly, cultured and great herdsmen, simlar to the Romans, Athenians, and Macedonians.
The peoples of the southern deserts and subsequent jungle regions are dark-featured, tall and strong, a warrior-race that contantly trains and lives for war, which there is much of in thier kingdoms. Like the Egyptians, Spartans, and Nubians.
In the Eastern Islands, there are a people of great wisdom, peacefulness, and sage, but also a people who, when provoked, can lay waste to kingdom. Kinda like the japanese, chinese, koreans, inuits, and indians.
In the western seas, there is a race who lives on a group of islands who are very religious, very traditional, but very innovative. Also, they are masterful farmers and good hunters. Compare them to the Narive Americans, Inuit, and Aztecs.

So, there's the human civilizations. On a few continets, out beyond the western seas, lie the homes of other species...some catlike, some doglike, and even some lizardlike. Nevertheless, these species have organized themselves into large empires, with strong central monarchies, caste systems, etc. They have decided to form an alliance, a pact, to wipe these " strange fleshy beasts who inhabit the far continent". The humans, fractured and depleted, must learn to cooperate or be exterminated.

Kinda simple, formulaic, I know, but, the story will evolve as I go along.
What do you think so far?

Sounds good to me. Heck, I'd play it. Sounds like Warhammer by Games Workshop, only a computer game and most likely better and less expensive. I like it.

you should do a risk type thing, see who wins =], surely there is an online risk somewhere you can use to simulate these peoples.

I've thought of the Caste/Military System for the northern region humans:
At the top is the King, Lord, whatever and the royal family, such as the queen, the heir, princes and princesses, etc.
Then there are the higher nobility, like dukes and such. They are well-armored, well-armed, and well-trained, and usually ride giant hawks or eagles into battle. The nobles are the only class allowed to carry and use swords.
Next, is the lower or local nobility, called "Karul", similar to the Viking "carl". They have decent armor, and are allowed to use swords, as they are noblemen. They sometimes ride large, wingless, birds, like big ostridges, into battle.
Then, there are the Landmahn, landowning conscripts. They are freemen, they own land and farm it. They can affored light armor and use only axes, roundshields, and daggers, since they are not nobles and thus cannot use swords. Some use bows as Arkh'ruses, or Archers, or if they have enough money, ride medium sized (3m tall) dragons, called drakes, and use long spears.
Last in line are Tiral'a, or thralls, the peasant conscripts, and own no land, just farm farms or raise animals or whatever needs to be done. They have no armor, and wear whatever they can afford- usually cloth. They use long pikes, and have daggers for close combat. They are more of a mass-levied militia than a true army, but the Kingdom needs all it has.
The most powerful Kingdom in the north is H'daela. Their King has the privelige of holding the title "Lord of the North". The other Kingdoms and Karulates are tributary vassals to him. Thier current king is Adrian III, who has gained wide popularity and is lauded as "The Great". He is quite strong for 61, and is wise beyond most measures. He has succesfully managed to pull all of the Northern Kingdoms under his rule, and fought many wars to make it possible. His eldest son, Einar, is next in line for the Throne. Einar has proven himself a capable warrior and commander in several battles to unify the Northlands.

I'm currently working on the map of the Northlands.

Okay, done. Here is a map of the Northlands. Major Kingdom and Karulates are noted. The thick red line is the border of the united region. The thinner red lines are the borders of the main sub-nations of the greater region.

    Now. The Mountainlands.
The region has two primary Kingdoms, Rhea and Pliatonica, and a smallish state known as the Magistracy of Heraldus. Rhea and Platonica have identical caste systems. The King, or Basilion, is at the top, with the royal family. Next are the landed nobility, or Caelion, who serve as commanders in the military, usually atop huge three-headed war-bovines. Noblemen often have the best armor money can buy, usually bronze cuirasses or iron plate. Then, there are the middle-class and peasants, called Beobards, who use whatever weapons they can get, usually leather armor or just cloth. Unlike thier northern neighbors, sword use is not restricted to the nobles. Beobards and Caelion alike use bronze swords, spears, or crossbows.
In The Magistracy of Heraldus, all people are freemen, of equal status, and the nation is run by an elected council of 50 men and 50 women, headed by two Magistrates, one male and one female.
Here is the map, physiopolitical, of the Mountain Region:

Typical Landmahn of H'rdaela. Sporting the typical conical helm and chainmail shirt of their class. He wield a single-bit axe, useful for throwing or close combat, and dagger for even closer encounters.

Uh... The map looks too much like earth. Quite incredible map outlines can be made from balls of foil. Just screw them up, and unwrap them later, then scan and outline.

The continent system looks practically identical to that of Warcraft's, even with some Mysterious Islands in the middle of a big ocean.

I've never played any pf the wacraft games.
Also, the planet has to be a bit like earth, humans live on it, therefore there has to be similar environments in which apes evolve into humans, like earth's...but of course different, as it's a different planet, but similar enough for people to look and behave like, well, people.

Your continents look like nothing special. Why not have it exactly the same as earth, just in a different universe or something.

'Cause I don't want it to be identical to earth. I want it to be similar enough for people to connect with it and say "hey, that sounds familiarish!", but not "Hey, that's just like here!".

Actually what I meant is that it [the continents] looks too much like africa, north and south america. Apart from that your universe is spot on.

I guess the one on the far left looks like a sideways southwest asia...meh.
    Anyway.
Any suggestions for the jungle people's caste systems?
