I need help figuring out what to get a girl I know for her birthday, shes turning fifteen and I've known her like all my life (not "interested in her" at all). Shes really love obsesed and is kind of a hippie you could say: Into natural stuff, crazy (but fashinable) clothes, and loves Pearl Jam. I was thinking about getting her a book about love. But any ideas would be much appreciated.
Save yourself the headache, give her money so that she can have exactly what she wishes. She will be able to go get the exact color, style, size, or whatever of her's hearts desire.
Nah, good idea usually, but like I said shes kinda a hippie and I've known her for too long to pull that off.
Then either give more info or give her a "Whole Earth Calalogue". On that thought it might be possible that they still sell the "Foxfire" series of books.
The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe A good book for anyone, not just hippy chicks. Those live Pearl Jam CDs(there are about a fucking 100 of them). And my all-purpose gift stand bys: - Magic Eight Ball - Booze. Although giving a 15 year old a bottle of Jack is probably bad. Well if... Yeah, probably bad.
On second thoughts, buying for chicks is almost impossible(or is it just me who sucks?). Get her best friend to help.
Dude, bad idea....... I can't pick jewelry first off and I wouldn't feel comfortable giving it to her.
Go to her favourite shop/s and ask the assistance or ask her best friend or mum / sister etc. Failing that picture frames and a disposible camera or something fun
How about making a donation in her name to "Doctor's Without Borders", or "Planned Parenthood", etc.? The chapter dealing with the giving of gifts in Matt Ridley's book, The Origins Of Virtue, prompted me to think about our custom of giving material things to each other. I eventually decided to stop the practice altogether. It took a while, but the message finally got through to my friends and family. Several of them have since confided to me the relief they feel not to have to scramble to find yet another "thing" for someone who already has far more then they need. Just a thought, Michael
