"WASHINGTON (AP) -- A record-size hailstone crashed into Nebraska during a storm in June, federal weather experts said Friday.

The June 22 storm produced a hailstone 7 inches in diameter and 18.75 inches in circumference at Aurora, Nebraska, the National Climatic Data Center said. "

but when you throw out terms like diameter and circumference, you are talking about a circular feature... should havedescribed the max/min thickness in that case, not diameters.

it's a great example of how sloppy gov't agencies are in so many different ways. Also the careless nature of the reporting, and the general lack of critical thinking.
