View Full Version : My used CD shopping trip
theonlyguyever 04-15-03, 08:48 PM Yeah, so I traded in a bunch of old shit I never listen to anymore -- Everclear, Creed, Dashboard Confessional, Papa Roach, Splender -- to Cheapo here in Austin, Texas. I also bought a bunch of relatively low-priced new and used CDs. Here's the list.
Tori Amos -- Under The Pink, $6.95
Tori Amos -- To Venus And Back. $6.95
Bright Eyes -- Lifted, $12.99
Isis -- Sgnl>05, $4.95
The Roots -- Phrenology, $9.99
Smashing Pumpkins -- Pisces Iscariot, $2.95
A Static Lullaby -- And Don't Forget To Breathe, $12.99
Sublime -- Acoustic: Bradley Nowell And Friends, $5.95
Systematic -- Pleasure To Burn, $8.99
Vaux -- There Must Be Some Way To Stop Them, $9.99
So, let me know what you think of my new records. I'm in the process of listening to them all, song by song.
havalina 04-16-03, 11:12 AM I have the Bright Eyes album and I love it. Hope you enjoy it.
theonlyguyever 04-16-03, 03:14 PM Actually, Bright Eyes is playing here in Austin tomorrow (Thursday) evening, so if I can dig up $18.50 pretty soon I'll probably go... And yeah, I love the album!
*runs outside to mow the lawn for extra money*
havalina 04-16-03, 05:14 PM I went to Pollstar.com to see who else they are playing with in your area... no one I recognize (Arab Strap and Her Space Holiday).
You should cut an extra lawn and go to that venue Friday also. Wow, talk about an awesome show. :D
(Further Seems Forever, The Ataris, The Juliana Theory, and Yellowcard).
theonlyguyever 04-17-03, 12:32 AM Yeah, I already have my ticket for Friday night. I'm really looking forward to that show, especially The Juliana Theory. It's going to kick ass!
I'll probably head down and see Bright Eyes tomorrow night. I got $20 for mowing this evening.
YoungWriter 04-17-03, 05:51 PM The Roots album is worth all the money. Hope you got the DVD with it.
theonlyguyever 04-17-03, 09:11 PM Yeah, I got the DVD too. Haven't listened to more than the first three tracks on the CD yet, or checked out the DVD... Will do soon.
I'm seeing Bright Eyes tonight!

You rock. So how was it? Emo overload? :D
theonlyguyever 04-18-03, 11:51 AM Yeah, I went to the Bright Eyes show last night. It was very relaxed, people just sitting around and standing, but not really packed together. Too much cigarette smoke, and some people just talked throughout the set, which was disappointing.
They played 12 songs in the main set and an encore of three. I only have the new album, and I recognized maybe four songs in the set. About half of the songs were done with the full band, and the other half were just done with Colin and his beautiful Taylor acoustic dreadnought. Everyone in the band was drinking on stage, kind of funny.
A pretty good show, but not exceptional. I'd pay the $15 or so to see Bright Eyes if they drop through your area.
theonlyguyever 04-18-03, 11:53 AM Oh, and tonight I'm going back to the same venue to see a show with what's bound to be a completely different vibe.
The Ataris
The Juliana Theory
Further Seems Forever
Yellowcard
I'll let you know how it goes. I've got high expectations, as always.
