When I write something to a CD it comes out practically silent. The audio data is there, but I have to crank it up to the max just for it to be barely audible. It's not quiet when you listen to it on the recording deck using headphones, so I have no idea why it does that. Anything I can do about this besides swearing at it?
well what system are you using? What microphone is it? What software are you using? Maybe you got a really soft voice...girls do.
Why did I bother taking you off ignore so I could read this? I'm using a Yamaha AW1000, can't remember what make my mike is, but it definitely works properly, and no software, you record by inserting a CD in the actual machine, not via a computer. (well you can do that too) I don't have a soft voice....I use a blood curdling screech, no clean vocals. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I don't think anything is up with the mike. I can hear shit fine when playing it off the machine, it's when its recorded to a CD that I can't hear anything.
You can ask Yamaha sound help station: 1-866-211-9366, call Monday – Friday, between 8:30AM – 12:00 PM PST/PDT and from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM PST/PDT
Are the CD's the correct type? When you plug in the mike, does it register on the record VU meters or whatever it is they have to adjust the sound levels on that set? Are you certain the mike works, check it out on another apparatus. Can you put a already recorded CD into the machine and see if it plays back OK?
I don't think I can help much, I don't think my sisters decks the same and I've not played with it much. What you could try though is instead of cranking the sound levels to 100% for writing, try writing a CD with them at 80% or so. Some sound equipment is made so that should you try to boost your levels too high it will either normalise to a low level or cut completely out to lessen the chances of equipment damage (speakers etc). I'm not saying this is necessarily the case but you can still try it out.
Thanks for advice Stryder, I'll try that. Yes. It definitely works on other apparatus. I haven't tried...
