I did a quick search through articles of Middle Eastern currencies on Wikipedia that had pictures and didn't find any matches. The closest I can find is the Yemeni rial (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yemeni_rial). It's the only one that has that strip on it that deters counterfeiters, which the mystery currency seems to have.
