View Full Version : My Site Overview
The site itself is very encouragable. In this sense, I mean that if one says one thing, many can follow without any true integrity: We has a saying in Scotland forpeople who follow the encoragable; they are like sheep.
Have noticed, as I am sure as everyone has, there has been a lot of bigoted behaviour, and even personal remarks that are disproportional to a site that is credited as being an ‘’Intelligent Community,’’/ and yet, it is on frequent occasions…. Not.
Now, I am not going to name any names, but I’ve met a lot of good people here, and learned a lot from them, but there is one thing I will not tolerate is dogmatism, inherent in the New World of Science. Because such over-speculative affirmations usually have us either in awe or pure discontent, we tend to throw it into area’s disproportional to:
1/ the thought involved
2/ the time involved in making such work
And 3/ general courtesy
And instead what usually happens… it is exiled as though it means nothing, This can be damaging sometimes, because from a psychological analysis, the actions of such an event make the individual feel rather inadequate at times.
I have also noticed that there is a lot of hate against homosexuality. Yes… this is human nature, but it doesn’t excuse the fact that it is the lowest kind of behavior a human can express. It shows that these people are nothing but nastiness personified. And yet, here is the irony. Instead of the mod’s making a correct solution, they invoke site laws saying that they can (that is the bigots I am referring to), do this because they have some ‘’flawed right,’’ as though it is accepted in every day like. But this isn’t true… a homosexual can go through life without coming across such homophobic people…. It’s just very unfortunate that some of us have to.
My point being, where is the empathy>? 0 The Site’s flawed. Totally.
Summary: Yet again Reiku bitches about his threads being moved to Pseudoscience, and about that he's gay, and that nobody here loves him.
Actually i speak for all of those who are gay here. Surely you didn't think i was being selfish?
I speak for everyone who are in the same positions - because we both know there hasn't only been a lot of complaints on the homophobia, but also the unjustificational removal of threads.
Don't be so daft Avatar. You know what I speak of. I wll hold you in contempt of this site, if you ignore evidece that cannot be refuted.
darksidZz 12-06-07, 04:14 PM wOOt?!
The sites become boring and I am not really interested in hearing more about the people who post, they yack about their lives but I am already knowing them abit from prior posts. I think even that the thread Do Photons Have Mass may already have been done by me earlier, no doubt someone did it even before any of us :S I seen alot of repeat threads where they basically go yapping about weather or stuff in the end.
Sure, there's always complains. It's natural with such a big user base. Can't please everyone.
So I put your complain in the "So what?" bin and forget about it.
Reiku I like you as a friend, you gayness is not on my accord.
Yes well, Owl, it's expected when people continue in such profanities like a broaken record. What do you really want those who are oppressed round here sometimes>>>>? Just sit down like a good bitch and behave. We have the right to espress what we wantm especially when it is put in the site feedback.
sit down and pray...to the lord.
Reiku I like you as a friend, you gayness is not on my accord.
What's that got to do the with the price of a bunch of grapes?
Why tell me to pray to Yah'weh my father, when you don'teven believe in him?
darksidZz 12-06-07, 04:27 PM I just meant there's alot of repeat threads so the sites boringer :S
''The So-What Bin''?????
Did you buy that from Ikea?
I just meant there's alot of repeat threads so the sites boringer :S
Then don't you think you are a bit hypocritical? After all, if the site is so boringm why are you even in here?
darksidZz 12-06-07, 04:37 PM By nature I am boring :A u sound angry
spidergoat 12-06-07, 04:39 PM I take it we don't inhibit free speech enough? That's a criticism I haven't heard before.
Free speach is fine.... just so long as some pivotal lines are not breached.
Crunchy Cat 12-06-07, 05:01 PM My take Reiku is that many people simply dont like you because you lie, misrepresent science, and continuously complain about how you are victimized. As a result your image is basically that of a pain-in-the-ass.
If you want to change that then its going to take alot of effort on your part... probably ten times the effort a new user would have to put in to establishing a positive image.
If you don't want to change your image then your present path will lead to a separation between you and this site.
spidergoat 12-06-07, 05:03 PM That's the question, isnt it? Where's the line?

That was well0below the belt.
1. When have I lied?
2. To misreperesent science is the only was science develops: ia new idea', wild speculations and general theories.
''and continuously complain about how you are victimized.''
Well, it is happening. Ben does target my work. Not only that, but many other people here have been oppressed by similar behaviour... so your point holds to ziltch.
''If you want to change that then its going to take alot of effort on your part... probably ten times the effort a new user would have to put in to establishing a positive image.''
 Change I'm happy for who i am. Are you, while we are on the immature subject?
''If you don't want to change your image then your present path will lead to a separation between you and this site.''
What makes you think i care?
Crunchy Cat 12-06-07, 06:22 PM That was well0below the belt.
The intention was to call it like it is.
1. When have I lied?
I would be happy to dig up instances, but before I do... do you understand what a lie is and do you really think you have not lied quite a few times?
2. To misreperesent science is the only was science develops: ia new idea', wild speculations and general theories.
Speculation and theories are not misrepresentations of science. Calling a speculation truth and inventing a theory based on incorrect / absent assertions is a misrepresentation of science.
''and continuously complain about how you are victimized.''
Well, it is happening. Ben does target my work. Not only that, but many other people here have been oppressed by similar behaviour... so your point holds to ziltch.
Ben is taking the time to critically review your assertions. Your oppression complex comes because the majority of your assertions are not science and you don't like that Ben can recognize that.
''If you want to change that then its going to take alot of effort on your part... probably ten times the effort a new user would have to put in to establishing a positive image.''
 Change I'm happy for who i am. Are you, while we are on the immature subject?
It's not about changing who you are... its about changing your image (i.e. how you are seen / judged by others).
''If you don't want to change your image then your present path will lead to a separation between you and this site.''
What makes you think i care?
If you really didn't care then this thread and the multitude of similar ones would not exist.
BenTheMan 12-06-07, 06:31 PM And 3/ general courtesy
So...you're saying that I should be nice and let you post bad science in the physics section?
What makes you think i care?
Because since you started here, there are probably fifteen threads exactly like this one where you make a bunch of accusations and then threaten to leave.
But then you always show up again, and all of this just amounts to wasted bandwidth.
''I would be happy to dig up instances, but before I do... do you understand what a lie is and do you really think you have not lied quite a few times''
Please do... I will wipe the floor with you.
''Speculation and theories are not misrepresentations of science. Calling a speculation truth and inventing a theory based on incorrect / absent assertions is a misrepresentation of science.''
That didn't even make sense to my proposal...
''Ben is taking the time to critically review your assertions. Your oppression complex comes because the majority of your assertions are not science and you don't like that Ben can recognize that.''
Consiereing he wiped out 8 theads in one week, and only touched two others... No... it's personal, so don't bother trying to patronize me. I am a very tolerent man, but you are really testin my patience.

Do yourself a favor, and rub two brain cells together. You said:
''''If you don't want to change your image then your present path will lead to a separation between you and this site.''
Suggesting that i will inexoraby get myself banned from this site. So i said:
''What makes you think i care? ''
So it has nothing to do with what you said and thought.
I thik that's enough for tonight with you.
It's not about changing who you are... its about changing your image (i.e. how you are seen / judged by others).Lol. So—we're suppose to change our images now, to conform with your specifications, to appease your sensibilities, to indulge your regard? Isn't that being a bit demanding?
I'll tell you what. Set up a poll:
1. Does Reiku present science
2. I wouldn't know?
3, Absolutely not.
??? Mmmmm - on you go.
Killjoy 12-06-07, 07:50 PM wOOt?!

So what are you doing here ?
Exactly. I said the exact same thing.
BenTheMan 12-06-07, 08:34 PM My point being, where is the empathy>? 0 The Site’s flawed. Totally.
So what are you doing here ?
One wonders...
Crunchy Cat 12-06-07, 11:35 PM Lol. So—we're suppose to change our images now, to conform with your specifications, to appease your sensibilities, to indulge your regard? Isn't that being a bit demanding?
To answer your question, no. When I used the word 'your' it referred to Reiku (not you). When I used the word 'others' it referred to other members -plural- (not me singular).
Crunchy Cat 12-06-07, 11:37 PM I'll tell you what. Set up a poll:
1. Does Reiku present science
2. I wouldn't know?
3, Absolutely not.
??? Mmmmm - on you go.
Will you bitch and moan if the majority result is no?
Crunchy Cat 12-06-07, 11:55 PM ''I would be happy to dig up instances, but before I do... do you understand what a lie is and do you really think you have not lied quite a few times''
Please do... I will wipe the floor with you.
Ok and good luck with that. I'll also provide a definition of the word 'lie' as your lack of response to the question might be suggestive you really don't understand what a lie is.
To misreperesent science is the only way science develops: ia new idea', wild speculations and general theories.
Speculation and theories are not misrepresentations of science. Calling a speculation truth and inventing a theory based on incorrect / absent assertions is a misrepresentation of science.

Maybe not in Bizarro land but on Earth it makes sense in the English language.
It sounds like Ben validated two of your threads as real science. Maybe you should compare those two to the other eight and try to understand the differences.
''If you really didn't care then this thread and the multitude of similar ones would not exist.''
Do yourself a favor, and rub two brain cells together. You said:
An ad-hom start...
''''If you don't want to change your image then your present path will lead to a separation between you and this site.''
Suggesting that i will inexoraby get myself banned from this site.
Followed by an incorrect interpretation (separation is just often self-chosen... like the times you claimed to leave).
So i said:
''What makes you think i care? ''
Hallelujah, you really did say that.
So it has nothing to do with what you said and thought.
I thik that's enough for tonight with you.
Only in Bizarro land again.

If one wants to be part of a group -that is, get membership status, recognition and appreciation from other members-, then one actually has to be part of a group -that is, one actually has to get membership status, be such that other members recognize and appreciate one-.
That's how social groups work.
Wanting to belong to a group, but also wanting the group to conform to oneself - this is precarious. Anyone wanting the group to conform to oneself should be ready for unfavorable treatment or expulsion.

We gotta come up with a new policy: if anyone creates a goodbye thread, they get 24 hrs to post in that thread alone and then they're banned for 6 months.
Crunchy Cat:When I used the word 'your' it referred to Reiku (not you).Yet, when you refer to Reiku, you also refer to the whole of Sciforums, and to Sciforums' science community, and to Sciforums' science, and to the global science community, and to the faculty of science, and to the history of science, and to the honor and integrity placed upon science by yours truly. Look, I'm not so much defending Reiku on this issue, but it seems you're vying for science as a demoiselle in distress. What? is she so petite? not pretty enough to flaunt the latest fashions? Or is it that she's too delicate to be seen outside her ivory tower escorted by an eccentric gentleman friend from the wrong side of the tracks?

Ripley -
You want flair and chutzpah to be accepted in science?
And that those participating in science would hold themselves to the standard of being fluent on all levels of the Bloom Hierarchy (http://www.officeport.com/edu/blooms.htm)?
And that they would strive for integrity and maintain it?
Wonderful. :)

Crunchy Cat 12-07-07, 02:08 PM There you go. Lets hear it for evidence!
greenberg 12-07-07, 02:15 PM As far as I understand, Reiku is questioning the very notion of "evidence".
At least philosophically, this is a perfectly legitimate concern.
Which has a place in the Philosophy section, not Science.
greenberg 12-07-07, 02:20 PM Philosophy and Science have been ignoring each other much, but mostly it is Science who ignores Philosophy.

Philosophy and Science have been ignoring each other much, but mostly it is Science who ignores Philosophy.

That's simply not true. Philosophy spawned science which is now leaving analytical philosophy high and dry,
If you are referring to ethics, that's a different matter, although it does not belong solely in the domain of philosophy.
If you have something else in mind, I should be interested to hear what it is.
Science - revealing how things work
Philosophy - pondering why they must work just so
BenTheMan 12-07-07, 02:46 PM What's wrong with pseudoscience? I've posted there myself when I had nothing more than speculation on me.
The difference is...Reiku can't tell the difference. I'm sure a poll will actually give some empirical evidence that no one thinks that Reiku knows what he is talking about, which is probably why Reiku hasn't started one as he promised to a few posts back.
He didn't promise to set up a poll, he told someone else to do it.
Crunchy Cat 12-07-07, 02:58 PM Is Reiku really duendy? That would explain alot.
duendy was a [dumb] chick. But maybe she's faking and got a computer and installed a spellchecker.

Scientists ponder why things work as they do . That's what give rise to hypotheses, theories and experiments. You are making an unjustified assumption distinction.
I fyou disagree, find me a few examples to support your view.

Psycho - refers to the stud of the mind
The ''physics'' part, is the quantum mechanical job to explain how consciousness exists. It also covers a multitude of variables:
Some scientists will have the model of the mind very black and white, and extremely pragmatic. One of these view points is that all the action in the mind gives rise to consciousness, not a specific localization to any neuron function. Basically, its the hydrogen atoms and the electrons and the photons, and all the other particles whizzing about in the brain that causes cognitive phenomenon.
Spin-Mediated Consciousness
The spin-mediated consciousness theory is a theory that says spin - that intrinsic property of subatomic matter - carried by nucleons in neural membranes and other proteins are the linchpins between mind and brain. This theory was initially proposed by biophysicist Huping Hu and his counterpart Maoxin Wu. But what if the idea can be extended to more than simply spin of matter... what if the transferal of energy is intimately related?
Electromagnetic Theory of Consciousness
The electromagnetic theory of consciousness is a theory that states that the electromagnetic field generated by the electromagnetic materials of the brain (known for a long time, and measured by EEG's) is the actual carrier of conscious experience. We might find Biomagnetites and Photons being supreme carriers. This theory was initially proposed by scientists such as Jonjoe McFadden, Susan Pockett and Roy John. But what if this can be taken further? We know that isolated forces maybe a bit of an illusion. We have already linked electroweak, electrostrong, electromagnetism all together as simply different sides to a single force... So perhaps the different sides play different roles to give rise to the same goal... Consciousness? We have already stipulated the possible action of a universe choosing the initial conditions of the quantum physical laws so that we might exist. These are just two different theories... But they are many more questions to be asked and answered with hesitation. Here is a list of all the problems i know of...
1. Perception and Self-Reflection
2. Thoughts and Memory
3. Dream States
4. Hallucinations
5. Psychic Experience
6. The Subject-Object Paradox
7. The Binding Problem
8. Conscious Explanation of Neurological Functions and Coherence
9. Psychological Determinative Phenomena
10. Artificial Intelligence and Computation
11. The Collapse of Single Neural Calculations
12. Social Phenomena
13. The Spacetime Projection Phenomena
14. The 2-D Spacetime Phenomena Cast into the Three Dimensional Phenomena
15. Metaphysical Theory of Consciousness
I am sure there are more, but this covers the in's and out's of what needs to be conceptually grasped when we speak about the complications of consciousness. Indeed, if it was an easy task, we would have solved the problem a hundred years ago. I have a theory that consciousness, if it represents the world, and universe as a whole, then if we have an incomplete theory of consciousness, then so will our theory of the universe. In fact, a Grand Unification of QFT will be to have the observer included in this theory...

We gotta come up with a new policy: if anyone creates a goodbye thread, they get 24 hrs to post in that thread alone and then they're banned for 6 months.
It brings tears of joy to my eyes also! YEA!!!! GO FOR IT!!! :D
I like it.
I've... I've never read anything so beautiful! :worship:
You just came up with an excellent idea
childish notions of revenge
vindictive attitudes
dont let the door hit you on the way out
bye? fine! BYE!
/ban
pathetic lil fucks
it is similar to the frivolous ban proposal episode
all ignore the real issue....
stop spamming
the tp is thus irrelevant
new rules are not required

superluminal 12-07-07, 08:37 PM What are you gustav?
You write in this broken poetic structural style in a sort of riddle-like prose. What the hell is up with that?
It's pretty fucking cool IMHO.

Damn right. I AM a homosexual... did you forget the obvious bitch-slapping that obviously evaided you short memory span>?

I don't lie, I tell the truth. You asked me how I felt and I told you I am against homosexuals. I do not advocate violence against them, thou. If we disagree on one issue of sexuality why can we not get along with other ideas? Science is vast and exists precisely for uniting people in thinking.
First... Wow... he's hot...
Draq:
You do lie when you say things like:
Children brought up in homosexual environments will turn out to be gay themselves.
Another lie you said, was to me one time. ''I like Reiku, even though he is gay,'' and yet three weeks later, you contradicted yourself by saying, ''I hate gays...?''
So is this really the truth? If it is in your eyes, then this ''buddhism'' you are so intimately investigating isn'y doing you enlightenment much good. A buddhist finds no biased formula in pure soul, mentality and general sense.
''I do not advocate violence against them, thou.''
There could be several reasons why you make such a remark/comment.
''If we disagree on one issue of sexuality why can we not get along with other ideas? ''
Becuase my sexuality is of no concern of you'rs. You live about 5000 miles away, and hardly know me. Then why express such narrow and fabricated solutions?
''Science is vast and exists precisely for uniting people in thinking.''
My goodness. The first bit of sense in all of this babble. Well done. Maybe there is hope for you yet???

well than, lets not be hostile.
You started it. I will finish it.
No.
I am a scientist of psychophsyics.
I saw the film. It was very scary.
Scientists ponder why things work as they do . That's what gives rise to hypotheses, theories and experiments. You are making an unjustified assumption about how science works.
If you disagree, find me a few examples to the contrary.
In order to find out why perhaps it helps to know how first?
Newton Darwin Einstein Curie. How/why?

Your post made a distinction between philosophers and scientists, The people mentioned above were SCIENTISTS. I said scientists think about things and that this gives rise to hypotheses, etc. Your answer supports the point I made. Thank you
Science - revealing how things work
Philosophy - pondering why they must work just so
I have found your post to save you the trouble of looking
sniffy ponders..if myles deliberately misunderstanding sniffy...if yes i wonder why...sniffy not writing clearly enough...hmm...myles being awkward..sniffy being awkward....arrghhh!!!!
Anyway:
Scientists like to uncover how things work by observation and experiment.
Philosophers, on the other hand, tend to concentrate more on the whyfore with little if any experiment (trying hard to think examples of experimental philosophers) to back up their assertions.
Of course there may be some crossover between the two. However, I have sometimes observed a hmmm, friction, between philosophers and scientists. Empirical vs subjective and never the twain shall meet perhaps??

Philosophy is by and large just a waste of time and effort. It seldom produces anything of real value - it's just something that most of us enjoy doing from time to time.
Science, on the other hand, is mostly a drive to find things that ARE useful, not so much the theoretical bunch but the applied science groups.

You've probably been talking to too many metaphysicians. Serves you right. ha ha
