You don't say how old you are, but if you're around the median age here, this may be your first encounter with a powerful asshole, so it's one of life's valuable little lessons.

The world is so full of assholes that you can't expect to get away from all of them. One day you're going to have to learn to live with somebody you hate. Someone who has enough power over you that you can't get in their face. Boss, banker, cop, in-law, judge, zoning commissioner, club president, membership chairman of a professional society, the only mechanic in the state who knows how to fix your car... the possibilities are endless and depressing.

We can't tell you how to deal with this guy without meeting him personally. The keys to the situation are all in the little dynamics about the two of you. No one is really as bad as this guy seems to you or else they'd be the despot of some starving Third World country. He's just somewhat worse than a garden variety jerk and you push each other's buttons. You should do your best to get past this or you'll establish a really bad behavior pattern of blowing up at assholes and you'll get your own ass kicked for it some day.
