According to a recent poll done by the University of Maryland, Americans are more likely to support attacks against civilians than citizens of every other Muslim country except Nigeria. This poll challenges the popular belief that Islam is a religion of war and the United States is a nation of peace. Percentage of population agreeing that “bombing and other attacks intentionally aimed at civilians” are “never justified:” Pakistan: 86% Bangladesh: 81% Indonesia: 74% United States: 46% The survey, conducted in December 2006 by the University of Maryland’s prestigious Program on International Public Attitudes, shows that only 46 percent of Americans think that “bombing and other attacks intentionally aimed at civilians” are “never justified,” while 24 percent believe these attacks are “often or sometimes justified.” Contrast those numbers with 2006 polling results from the world’s most-populous Muslim countries – Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nigeria. Terror Free Tomorrow, the organization I lead, found that 74 percent of respondents in Indonesia agreed that terrorist attacks are “never justified”; in Pakistan, that figure was 86 percent; in Bangladesh, 81 percent. http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/0223/p09s01-coop.html
Hi Sam, thank you for starting this thread. i am not sure but do we know what question was actually asked of the citizens and how many people were a ctually surveryed? ~~~~~~~ take it ez zak
The highest populated Muslim countries may not support bombing another country but some radicals support kidnapping our servicemen, bombing our ships, hijacking our planes, flying them into our skyscrapers, kidnapping our soldiers, sawing people's heads off, torture, terrorizing infidels, and being evil abominations of human beings. That's what has some people a bit upset with radical Muslims. I don't know any American who supports attacking civilians (unless said civilians are terrorists.) Does "Terror-Free Tomorrow" denounce all muslim/terror attacks against Americans?
What do you think? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Besides, they are only reporting the study.
I don't know. I do know that CAIR will not denounce any terror attacks against Americans. Change my thinking, sam. Tell me most Muslims do not support the violence in the Koran, the terror attacks against Americans, and disrespecting women. I have already done a complete 180 on not saying 'evil Muslim terrorists' anymore. Some people want to embrace the Muslims but I do not want to let my guard down and have my country terrorized again. Tell me what you think America should do to prevent further deadly attacks against our innocent citizens. I'm serious.
Sorry to butt in here Sam Perhaps the US administration could stop its support for the epicentre and heart of whabbist/alqueda terrorism. Instead of trying to overthrow / threaten non-nuclear regimes which dont tow the line, and actually hate Alqueda more than the US ~~~~~~~~~~~~ take it ez zak
You think we support the heart of terrorismPlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image! That is exactly what we're trying to destroy. The only ones we're threatening are N.Korea, China, and Iran. And I would bet they all have/are in the process of having nukes. Iran in particular has expressed its' disdain against us and its' desire to annihilate us.Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Who hates alQaeda more than us and Israel?
i want a quote from the top leadership in iran AND its majority of citizenry on the desire to annihilate the usa. the people who have no choice but to live among them and are punished by international military responses to al qaeda's actions?
Saddamdid, as they were more of a threat to him, then to America Assad of Syria, - for the above reasons The Clerics in power in Iran cos Alqueda are Sunni Mubarrak of Egypt - for the same reasons as Saddam did All muslims that have to deal with the comeback from Alquedas disguisting crimes aginst bhumanity Do you want some more. You support Alqueda cos America defenbds and supports the house of Saud where Whabbism was born ~~~~~~~~~~~ Take it ez zak
If there was an American group attacking and killing Americans, we Americans would track them down and bring them to trial. Few, if any, Americans would support such terrorists or terrorist actions. Americans would be demanding that American police track them down and bring them to trial. Muslims and Muslim nations, as well as some others in the world, seem to do nothing ...and worse, like some of you here, they even go so far as to make excuses for the Muslim terrorists. Look at your statement, Zak, ...you don't demand that the terrorists be tracked down, you give excuses for the terrorists' actions. Just because America deals with Saudi Arabia in some political arenas, you've provided an excuse for Al Queda's actions ...but you've not demanded that Al Queda be tracked down and brought to justice. Baron Max
Maximus, Oh Maximus you are enough to make a saint swear you really are. Saddam never let those terrorists rear their ugly heads in iraq let alone carry any terrorist acts out, same goes with Assad Senior. And about tracking these terrorists down i have answered that question many many times before, you just dont listen cos it appears that you have the perception that muslims dont want them tracked down. ~~~~~~~~~~~ With best regards Zak
first of all do you lead the organization named. second, the survey itself was not published. this leads me to believe that conclusions were being inferred rather than by direct examination. i find it hard to believe that americans support attacks on civilians.
Arab nations could track down the terrorists if they wanted to, including Saudi Arabia, but they don't, why is that Zak? Are the terrorist forces greater than the armies of those governments?
Is that why they voted overwhelmingly for a war on Iraq after the catastrophe of a war in Afghanistan? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hp4iI59BfpQ Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
i'm not sure they did or didn't. americans didn't "vote" to go to war in iraq. it was the presidents prerogative and most people supported it because of 911. where can i find the actual study mentioned in the OP?
Duh? The polls at the time showed an overwhelming support for the war; most Americans don't even know/care that Iraq has nothing to do with 9/11 or that there were no terrorists in Iraq. The University website?
