In the late 60s (and later in subsequent reruns) there were two main "creepy" TV shows. The Addams Family, based on the comic strip of Charles Addams' creepy and kooky and altogether ooky family, and and The Munsters, a family of a Frankenstein monster, his vampire wife and her father and their werewolf son.

Munsters were more goofball comedy, more situation-driven. Addams Family was more weird and creepy characters. More of a darker edge.

Anyhoo, if anyone has an opinion, which is your favorite?

I would have to say the Addams family. So many more characters and far more interesting.

The TV shows came out the same year (1964). The Addams Family was older, in general, being based on a previous incarnation of the Charles Addams cartoons which appeared regularly in the New Yorker magazine from the 30s and onward.

I think to much back there were all happy and preepy. It was nice to some changes in the Tv industry

I like the Addams Family. Herman Munster just bugs me too much to watch it.

Addams Family made more sense. I always thought it was kinda weird that a vampire family merging with a frankenstein family should form a werefolf as an offspring. Plus, Morticia was hot. Gomez was always chasin' her around lookin for a little lusty latin love. Lily was a cold fish. She'd just lay there clenching her flower. What kind of fun is that? :p The munsters was way goofier than the addams family. I could never really picture Herman going off on a killing spree, but I could easily see everyone in the addams household doing a lot of damage in the neighborhood. I guess I could see grandpa and lily doing some damage, eddie too. I guess it's just Herman that really makes the munsters goofy. I bet even Marilyn was more evil than Herman. She looked all sweet and innocent, but I bet there were some corpses in her bedroom.

The Addams Family is so cool. I wish I had a pin striped suit like gonzales', and a creepy old mansion.
