OK, I am trying to respond to a lengthy post and make it as a conversation with multiple quotes. I figured as much that the quote has to be between [ QUOTE= ] and [ /QUOTE ], but the very first quote doesn't get quoted this way, but shows up including that
try changing the [ brackets on { brackets...when the [ are inside the [ brackets. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
This is strange. I tried to post an example and everything worked fine without me doing anything differently... Edit: I think I got it. There was an extra space between the [ and the Q and that caused the wrong quoting. No space allowed between them...
I had the problem what showed up in Outlandish's post. But I think I gave the solution for it. Now there are 2 kind of multiple quotes: 1. Replying to one longer post, making it as a conversation. 2. Quoting multiple users in one post. My problem was with #1. What Outlandish asked is #2. When you punch the +Quote button and it turns red, it means that that post will be included among the posts being quoted. Obviously using it only makes sense when you quote at least 2 different posters.... Of course you can complicate matters when you mix #1 and #2 together... OK, this is what I did. I pushed the +Quote button on both of my test posts #8 and #9 in this thread (they turned red) then I clicked on Quote on the second post #9 and now both showed up in my response post. Now I will attempt to respond line by line: Let's see if it works. It looks like it works!! So I was right, read the whole thread and you will understand how it works. I didn't break up the last 2 sentences. Anyway, problem solved, this should be made a sticky! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
You don't actually need to highlight the last post you want to quote. Clicking the qote button on it will automatically add it to the quote list, ie, Clicking multiquote on post 8, then quote on 9 would have achieved the same thing as what you describe above - with one less click.
Correct. I have been experiencing with it... Also the sequence doesn't matter, as long as there are red buttoned posts, they will show up in the response.
The order that you select quotes in determines what order they'll appear in, ie clicking 8 then 9 will list quote #8 followed by #9. Clicking 9 then 8 will list quote #9 followed by quote #8 (this will apply even if you finish by clicking #9's quote button).
ok, but going back to your original query, how do you break up an individual post into separate quotes???
Before the sentence what you want to quote you write [QUOTE ] and at the end you write [/QUOTE ]. I put an extra space in there, otherwise it would have quoted "and at the end you write".
well that's what I do, manually copy and paste the bits I want to quote, then add the quote tags, but it's tedious. is there not a quick way?
