Kinda got this idea from the favorite depressing songs thread.

What movies have elicited enough of an emotional reaction as to make you cry?

I very rarely cry, but there have been some movies that have caused me to push out a tear or two. I can't think of many, but one that stands out in my mind is American History X when Danny is shot and killed in school. And then Edward Norton's character realizes there was a gunshot in the school, and figuring it had something to do with his brother, he runs in and through the cops and finds his dead brother. There were a number of other highly emotional scenes in that movie. I don't know. I just really liked the movie. Excellent acting. Plus Edward Norton is definitely one of my favorite actors.

My Life 1993

Unbelievable experience. I'm not one to go to tears either, but by the end of this film, in all seriousness, not a single person in the theatre wasn't weeping. And I mean full-out serious crying.. no sniffles here. It was a bizarre social oddity the likes of which I've never again encountered.

Didn't cry, but at the end of Big Fish when his son finishes his father's story to him as the father is dying...that got me choked up. Billy Crudup is one of the most underrated actors.

'Never Cry Wolf - Charles Martin Smith '83: This movie triggers the salt water falls everytime I watch it. I have a passion for wildlife and the environment.

A Beautiful Mind - Russel Crow: Played the role of John Nash, a genius mathemitician; who was imprisoned with a mental illness, schizophrenia - a condition for which there is no cure.

Whoa, I was just about to post that as well. It's the only moment I can remember getting a lil teary eyed (happy) from a movie, probably because it's a somewhat recent movie. Awesome scene.

Francois:

American History X was a brilliant film. It's rather shocking that a film that so blatantly was pro-racist was released, though.

I've never really 'cried' at a movie, although there have been two movies where I was moved to great emotion (rare for me).

- Shawshank Redemption. The end. (no spoilers)

- One Flew Over the Cuckoo Nest. Again, the end.

Reqium for a Dream- Never cried so hard because of a movie...or just in general even. It's some hardcore stuff.
The Little Princess- I'm close to my dad, so this movie had a bit of an impact on me.
The Notebook-at the end when she pusjes the old man away and he starts to cry got me.

Titanic...yes I admit it. I had just recently visited the graves in Halifax, and gone to a museum deataling the accident, so the reality of the movie hit harder then I think it would have normally.

It was the mom that got me...she reminded me of my mom. Something I worry about constantly. The drug part was pretty basic in it's "drugs are bad" thing...and the criminal stuff was pretty unrealistic...but omg the story of the mom got me, and hurt me bad.
