View Full Version : Movie problem Tyler 06-23-02, 08:42 PM Okay, for some odd reason every time I double click a movie file or try and play it in Kazaa/Morpheus my computer freezes for a second then goes to the blue 'OE error' screen. Any ideas? Stryder 06-24-02, 02:04 PM The Majority of BLUE SCREENS OF DEATH, result from Memory errors. Since your trying to play a movie, my guess is the computer is struggling to juggle between "Conventional Memory" (a SWAP FILE") and your RAM. You should check to see if your system see's the right amount of ram (does it see the correct amount?) You should make sure you have some free space on your hard-drive as your swap file will "Swell" when it's used by windows default settings. (You can check http://www.chatsoba.com/tutorial/bsod.html for some more information on dealing with BSOD. (I apologise for the formatting and the length of the page, but it converse near all angles.) Oh and these memory problems can cause CRC errors, when you download a compressed file you might find it doesn't work because it's got bent out of shape due to re-compiling from a temp folder after it's syphoned through the ram. fadingCaptain 06-25-02, 12:36 PM In addition to whats above, I would download and install the latest video drivers for your graphics card. Same for sound drivers. Is it only when you play the movie in kazaa/morpheus? If so, just use a different viewer. If you really wanna fix the problem and run out of solutions...format and reinstall windows...as ripley said "its the only way to be sure". |
