I got a simple little wireless mouse ( Microsoft brand ) for Christmas that I use with my Mac laptop. It works really good. Worked from the instant I plugged it in to the laptop. Didn't have to do anything else, just plug and play , as they say!

It's really handy, and easy to carry around.

So I would recommend getting one. I think basically all recent mice are plug-and-play these days, and cross-platform compatible, at least as far as Mac OSX and Windows XP are concerned.

All standard two-button mice, including two-button + scroll wheel mice, work by default in OSX. Plug and Play indeed!

Well this is good to know, i guess i will just keep the mac mouse for awhile. Mainly because it scroll's in every direction, otherwise it is a little small and it would be nice to have 2 seperate buttons. Wonder what they were thinking when they designed this thing?

That most people don't use or understand contextual menus, so the mouse shouldn't be cluttered with dedicated hardware to aid that function. Control+mouse or the right side of the Mighty Mouse will do context menus for those who want them.

I'm with you, though. Back when the mouse was being invented, people didn't know GUIs, and a single button made sense. Today, most computer users ONLY know GUIs, and mice are ubiquitous. I see no reason for Apple to keep single-button mice around at this point.

I went out and bought a $15 optical logitech two button + scroll wheel mouse, and am pretty darn happy with it. :)

edit: wait a second....you said the mouse can scroll in every direction? Is it a Mighty Mouse?
