Anybody know anything about mounting prints in a frame???

I'm looking for the name of the gold border around the print itself in this picture. It looks like some sort of decorative foil tape...or maybe its wood moulding painted gold???

Could be what is known as "gold leaf". It comes on small sheets like this or in a booklet form as well. You need a special type of gold leaf brush to actually pick it up and apply it.

Its probably wood, I've seen several like that in art shops. The variety of wood frames [as well as lightweight metal ones] is amazing. In one art shop, it was a separate room at the back where whole walls were covered with a sample and they still had samples on several rolling turnstiles on the floor.

I thought it was thick embossed foil tape that I could buy in rolls.

Ive already mounted one Chinese print of a silk painting and I bought some poplar today for making another frame. I'm going to use archival plexiglas for the next bunch...several Victorian engravings of scenes from the Middle East, India and Thailand.
