Many, I know, but one of the most perfect that fits the moment, is the end scene of 'Fight Club', when Ed Norton is watching the buildings blow up, with a hole in his head and Pixies 'where is my mind' comes on.

The theme from Requiem for a Dream was great. I’m not sure but I do think it was composed for the movie. Does that count?

Carmina Burana in Excalibur when the knights ride forth to war. Merlin brandishing his staff and pointing the way.

Also in Excalibur, the "la la la la la" song in the fair while Arthur is running about looking for Kay's sword.

Hey Man, Nice Shot in the Cable Guy during the basketball game.

"Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" by Nancy Sinatra in Kill Bill.

"Where is my mind" rocks. Pixies rock.

Also, "Rags to Riches" by Tony Bennett in Goodfellas, and pretty much all the classical music, but especially, "The William Tell Overture" in A Clockwork Orange.

The Leonard Cohen stuff from Natural Born Killers...

Even though it's just over the ending credits, I always liked "Paint It Black" at the end of Full Metal Jacket. Kubrick's films always had great musical accompaniment -- tracks that took on a new life when inserted into new contexts (e.g., "We'll Meet Again" in Dr. Strangelove and the aforementioned Clockwork Orange selections). The Shostokovich waltz at the beginning of Eyes Wide Shut, also the "Backward Priests" bit during the orgy are quite appropos.

Well, "Paint it Black" is the song of songs, so it'd be good in a Vin Diesel flick.

Agreed. :D

I'm thinking, in the hypothetical Vin Diesel movie, they would probably have some lame modern band cover it (cheaper, ya know). Though I'm sure a Nickelback version would be breathtaking... (sarcasm) :bugeye:

The piano solo portion of "Layla" during the murder montage scene in Goodfellas.
"Sympathy For The Devil" at the end of Interview With A Vampire
The Tom Wier piece at the end of Swimming With Sharks
The "love theme" from Young Frankenstein (French horn ... cool)

Does anybody know whether Iron Maiden's "Where Eagles Dare" is from the Richard Burton/Clint Eastwood movie? Or was it inspired by the movie?

The movie came out in '68, and Piece of Mind was released in '83, so I'm assuming it was inspired.

Have you heard the cover by Skrewdriver?

Well, it's this racist English Oi band, and they have this cover album of classic rock songs ... the Stones, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, all that ... anyways, I download the "Paint it Black" cover ... only made it through about 30 seconds of the song ... first, the dude's voice is equal parts Hitler and Carson, the irritating blond bitch from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, and second, they changed the fuckin' lyrics ... instead of "I see a red door, and I want it painted black," it's, "They see a white door, and they want it paint black."

Blasphemy!

Not really a song but...
Zed's poem from 'Police Academy 4: Citizens On Patrol'.

"Jean Jean made a machine,
Jo Jo made it go,
I did a fart and blew the whole damn thing apart."

Gets me every time...

Okay. Serious answer time.
It's not a film but a tv series.

The eppisode of 'ER' where Dr. Mark 'Goose' Green dies in Hawaii.
There is a beautiful Hawaiian version of 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' playing over it. Makes me cry like a little bitch with a skinned knee every time.

"Where is my Mind" by The Pixies from the end of "Fight Club" (I hope I'm not the only one who thought that the scene where the buildings were all blowing up was scerenly pretty)
"Wake Up" by Rage Against The Machine in the "Matrix" movies (If you listen to the lyrics, it fits the movie almost perfectly)
"Just Dropped In" by Kenny Rogers in "The Big Lebowski" (I loved the halucination scenes in that movie, and this one fits it perfectly)
"Wouldn't it be Nice?" by the Beach Boys in I think "Roger & Me" (It was a sad moment when it was playing, making a realy weird kind of irony)
