View Full Version : Most Re-Watchable Flick

Self-explanatory thread, methinks.

Starting with a few honorable mentions ...

Super Troppers- Stupid as all hell, but hilarious. The Broken Lizard dudes have a pretty good comedic chemistry, and Farva's basically a live action Cartman, so there's always a laugh around the corner.

Clerks - No budget, no production values, no acting ... and one of the most quotable scripts ever written. That, and there's just enough depth to keep it interesting.

Predator - It's got two Governors (and a Harvard professor) in it. Respect your betters!

Also, it's fuckin' retarded.

Heat - Pacino's well past his prime, and DeNiro's beginning to slip, but it really doesn't matter, because they've got some great lines ("Empathy was yesterday. Today, you're just wastin' my motherfuckin' time.") and the huge firefight is awesome.

But without a doubt, the winner ...

The Big Lebowski - There's no real plot to speak of, but each scene is hilarious. The characers are all amazingly vivid ... I mean, Jesus Quintana has two scenes, and he steals both of 'em ... Tara Reid, who doesn't even qualify as an actress is great (not suprisingly, playing a cock-sucking runaway) ... the Big Lebowski bears an odd resemblance to Dick Cheny. Walter's the ultimate gung-ho shithead.

But the real reason is the opening, with "The Man in Me." It's just a perfect, chilled, relaxing song that gets you in the mood for the film. The music's great throughout, too ... the Gipsy Kings cover of "Hotel California," the Creedence when after his car's got stolen, the "Just Dropped in" song during his second hallucination.

I would definitely agree on The big Lebowski.

Perhaps Fight Club as another movie worth of rewatching. I like the characters and plot.

Spaceballs would be another one.

And all the old Bud Spencer and Terrance Hill films, I cannot get enough of them somehow.

Even the third one, a.k.a. the most disappointing and unnecessary film ever? (Excluding the canon of that Arquette cocksucker)

Conan the Barbarian - best movie of all time. I've seen it several hundred times - til the tape (and VCR) wore out.

Princess

Raising Arizona - white trash and black humor. What's not to love. Like 'The Big Lebowski', 'Mallrats' and 'Clerks', the dialogue is so witty and utterly quotable.

The Coen Brothers can make themselves a film.

Kevin Smith too, but not so much.

Roman ... Jesse Ventura was the Governor of Minnesota, and he's now a Harvard professor, and Schwarzenneger, is of course, the Governator of California.

EDIT: It appears he's only a visiting fellow. Still, someone prominently involved in Predtaor now holds a position at the most prestigious university in the United States.

For TV series, all hail Family Guy. Even after the shock value wears off, the stupidity of Peter and Chris, the addictiveness of Brian, and the sheer lunacy of Stewie are still hilarious. Lois and Meg? Not so much.

Another rewatchable movie would be Shrek, I have just seen it today and think it is pretty good.

As for TV series, perhaps the Simpsons or South Park, but I have to say Family Guy is also pretty good.
