More play, no pay, is this a good idea

They just approved a college playoff system wherein the players will now have to play more games then before so that more revenue can be collected by colleges and businesses. Why shouldn't the players be PAID MONEY to play instead of just getting a free ride at their schools that they play for?The coaches, college and TV make money on those players who don't get any MONEY for their efforts so why can't they be compensated just like everyone else in the business?

It has been debated for a very long time about a playoff style championship but more important, to the players, is MONEY they should receive when they do their work as everyone else does. Why hasn't this been addressed before this playoff for it is far more important than more games to play with no pay. I'm fed up with college football just for this reason, this is the last straw for me before I finally threw in my towel and won't watch the colleges play any longer until the players get paid for they are why people watch the game not the commercials or college recruitments that are always present.

So if anyone else really thinks this playoff idea is the most needed thing for college players I would like you to tell me why you think so. Would you enjoy working longer for nothing extra, I'd think not.

I also think that streamlining the college football teams are a needed thing to do . Only have two 30 man teams allowed for every college team just like the pro's have, their first string and then a second string instead of 100 men standing around that few ever get called upon. The pay should be adjusted as to every team gets a even slice of the revenue generated by ALL teams but only allow for no more than 50 AAA teams to be playing.

So I guess no one cares much about this problem that everyone but the talent get paid real money and the talent only get free room and board with some education thrown in for good measure to make it look like they are getting something when actually the talent isn't getting anything in real MONEY.

It's a college, I thought the point was education.

But if everyone earns MONEY from the football team playing on TV wouldn't it only be right to pay the talent what they should get for being the stars who make everyone else rich? I agree that college is supposed to be for education but you must realize by now that sports that they play only bring in MONEY to the colleges which those colleges do not share with the talent that earns them that MONEY.

Personally, I think there is too much emphasis placed on sports in college and high school. But nobody asked me.

I would think that any extra money earned from school activities should be put back into the education system. That's probably not what's happening - but that's what should be happening.

But I also think the school is doing the players a disservice by giving them less time for their academic studies.

While I again agree the point isn't wethere the schoools should be only in the business of EDUCATION not SPORTS the fact remains that colleges are making millions off of talent that gets paid NOTHING! This is what should be discussed , to me, more than making a playoff system available for the players to do even more work for nothing while millions more are being made for those on the top.

If they want paid they can go pro AFAIC.
Universities make BILLIONS on those big game sports (football being the biggest, followed by basketball, baseball and hockey) but all of that money goes into the Uni and subsidizes all the other sport venues (female soccer for example). If anything I think it's important to make good account of that money and ensure it is properly spent for the good of the University and not sucked off into the pockets of unscrupulous douche bag jerkoffs.

    Good luck with that....

I don't think the players mind... more importantly, I'm surprised you would, Buddha... philosophically you never occurred to me as the sort to get angry over something as trivial as sports.

I'm not angry but only thought that paying the players who make them money would be more important than playing more games that coincide with the NFL playoffs.
