I was looking for a slightly offbeat thread (the kind that appeal to myself), it was titled 'Play it again Stan', createed acouple of days ago by noodler. I can't seem to find it anywhere and have tried the search function. Is it still around (just hidden under piles other threads on the desk) or is it possible it bypassed the cesspool and got swept directly under the rug? Any info?
It was swept directly under the rug, along with some similarly pointless threads by said author. There are enough places in FT where you can ramble pointless crap, the 'Pointless thread' for example. His threads had no point whatsoever to them and I asked him to stop spamming FT. My apologies for the confusion. I will just lock and cesspool such threads in the future.
O.K Enmos, I understand. Were you aware that the thread was actually quite clever, quite witty and contained no less than a dozen or fifteen original musical(specifically composer based puns of varying quality) within as many posts, far from the usual dribble that does seem to pre-occupy sci at the moment. Look, I promise I won't get my knickers in twist, I don't take the web that seriously but I do think you missed the point on this occasion. Our illustrious linguistics moderator does have a major self confessed inability to do sarcasm or puns ( god help us, let alone double entendres) so given that sad constraint, I am tempted to proclaim that with moderators like these, who needs Enmos but you probably won't get it /sigh
If that is true I certainly did miss it. And if so I will offer my apologies to noodler and repost the threads. As it is I have not even got a reply from him to my request for him to stop spamming FT. He could have told me.. Anyhow, shouldn't he have better posted it in Art & Culture? The threads I deleted are: - "Play it again, Stan" OP: - "Who was that masked stranger, Tonto?" OP: - "Meanwhile at the Schrodingers" OP: - "Coffee break" OP: I mean, he could at least have kept it all in one thread. Apart from the "Play it again, Stan"-thread there were no replies, or one or two replies to the OP. I will undelete this thread, but I'll leave it up to noodler to convince me to open any of the other three.
