Has anyone heard of the idea of Mind Palaces?: Fictional places created in your mind to help store memories visualy.

If so has anyone used this concept?

I tried and found it useful, but at the same time difficult to keep up.

Like in 'Hannibal'? Did the Medieval monks actually do that?

Nope. Ever looked at Giordano Bruno's memorization systems? Might be worth a look.
