Someone from UK that I happen to know is BTing windows 8. Refused to tell many details but said that Its going to bring back the Power to the PC. this was about a month or so back.

"Wzor.net, a well-known web-site specialized on leaking various builds of software by Microsoft reported recently that the company is about to finish its milestone 2 (M2) iteration of Windows 8 development and the third (M3) phase will start in March, 2011. After the M3 is finished, Microsoft is expected to release public Beta-1 and Beta-2, then unveil a release candidate (RC) and after that assemble the final version sometimes in late 2012. The software giant reportedly plans to release the operating system in retail in early 2013.

"According to our information, Microsoft plans to begin selling retail versions of Microsoft Windows 8 on Monday, January 7, 2013," the web-site reported."

Just got a new Windows 7 tablet notebook, and it runs surprisingly well for a Windows machine. But with all the effort they put into all these obscure networking features, math handwriting recognition and whatnot, why have they still not built a command line shell which is actually friendly to large multiline commands? Would be great if you could type in such a command and then edit and modify the command like a text document in Notepad before executing. They also need to do something about the calamity that is the system registry, and FFS, if they're not going to make the system Unix compatible then they should at least have a good suite of interoperability tools built directly into the OS, like mounting a Linux partition (shouldn't have to scrounge the web looking for the appropriate utilities).
