So. The Democratic National Party has stripped Florida and Michigan of their delegates as a punishment for moving their primaries up without permission.
Yet, both states are still holding primaries.
Why?
Stubbornness?
My first guess is that they're going to try to strike a deal with the Party. While I understand the Party's point about frontloading the primary process, it seems rather absurd that two important states—especially, all things considered, Florida—should be completely excluded.
It would be unseemly at least to simply call the whole thing off just because the Party's pissed. The people need to have their say. Of course, the Michigan event, at least, was thoroughly screwed.

That's what I was thinking too, after further thought. If they didn't hold their primary and the party decided to relent and let them come to the convention after all, they'd be kinda fucked. So, at least this way they'll be ready just in case.
Like you say, Florida is way to important (apparently) in the election process to ostracize. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they still get to send delegates in the end.

The DNC is f-ing dumb. Michigan got screwed. I don't think Florida delegates are going to be stripped like Michigan was, otherwise I don't think they'd be campaigning there. That also led to messing up the Republican primaries with Democratic voters.
The reason they did it seems to be because they are in the pockets of Iowa and New Hampshire. The entire point was to protect the benefit those two had.

The Democrats all agreed not to campaign in Flordia. Hitlery was never there, and the only way that Obama was linked to Flordia was that he bought ads that were on national cable news shows that ended up in every market, including Flordia markets.
