View Full Version : Metal music and hidden things
It seems to me that in every aspect of life, there is a spectrum of things exemplifying each idea, in range from most obvious (and thus pleasurable in the short term) to most pleasurable in the long term. While morons listen to Six Feet Under, there is a far better archetype out there:
http://www.cianidemetal.com/
do we have to squabble all the time?
please do not refer to me as a moron!
:D
fadingCaptain 01-09-03, 05:30 PM I thought you were talking about lou reed for a second :)
What I saw on that website was funny, though I don't think they were trying to be funny. The music is probably pure crap but I like pantera so who knows...
So we have a Six Feet Under listener and a Pantera listener here?
Hmm. Well, you guys haven't been exposed to much metal. But check out the downloads page: free songs in MP3 format.
will you stop calling me moron?
:D
ps: are you selling that shit?
Selling what shit? Six Feet Under?
oh i thought you sold death metal music
ok
i will check out the link.
I understand now. I'm entirely unrelated about this band except that, as with many metal bands, I put the first review of their work on the net and have been a fan for years.
Slacker47 01-09-03, 08:37 PM I dont see how you can call any death metal bad. Death metal is for people who are disgusted with the Rock and Roll industry, and they end up destroying their instruments with every song.
notme2000 01-10-03, 02:08 AM Beauty is subjective. There is no "right" kind of music. I personally find the Mona Lisa butt ugly. It's all in the eye (or ears) of the beholder. The more you can appreciate, the luckier you are. Death metal I haven't been able to appreciate yet, but that's my bad, not the music's.
BloodSuckingGerbile 01-10-03, 09:20 AM Black metal thread! Cool! One of my favourite music styles!!
Check out Children of Bodom you guys. They rule.
Or Sentenced and Impaled Nazarene, preferrably.
%BlueSoulRobot% 01-10-03, 09:59 AM No death metal here, but I do enjoy Blind Guardian, Chaos Opera, DARK ARMY, Mudvayne, Shai Hulud, and Iron Maiden. Especially the last one. :D
prozak
i need better examples of death metal
cianide sucks! some freak barking over generic beats aint my cup of tea!
i like the style but these guys suck! who is on your top 5? mp3's?
thanks
??
from death my favourite is Nile which totally rocks
but my favourite is black and gothic metal
I enjoy listening to- black, death, gothic, industrial (Rammstein)
Sie Hail!
avatar

ok n/p
It is hard to give you the best, because there are many awsome bands, but I'll list some
black - Tristania, Nightwish, Sirenia, Cradle of Filth
death - Dark Funeral, Immortal, Cannibal Corpse, Children Of Bodom
gothic - My Dying Bride, Nokturnal Mortum, also Graveworm (great), Type O Negative
industrial- Rammstein, Fear Factory, Static-X (yes, it's considered industrial not nu)

:bugeye:
I'd say
Black - Burzum, Sarcofago, Beherit, Darkthrone, Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, Bathory
Death - Autopsy, Repulsion, Morbid Angel, Suffocation, Immolation, Entombed
yeah- forgot about Burzum
nightwish is more melodical
reformedtopunk 01-11-03, 09:04 PM Bile, and Dimmu Borgir.
But what about punk rock? ;)
Spookz: some people often ask this. Here's a good general list, following "Jew Killed Jesus" 's lis:
heavy - Black Sabbath, Angel Witch, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Exodus, Budgie, Motorhead, Tank
black - Behemoth, Beherit, Sarcofago, Emperor, Darkthrone, Immortal, Enslaved, Burzum, Bathory, Celtic Frost, Impaled Nazarene, Mutiilation, Vlad Tepes, Graveland, Ildjarn
death - (right now) Sepultura, Vader, Morbid Angel, Massacra, Mortuary, (Bathory), Suffer, Asphyx, Pestilence
There are more in each category, but that's a good general introduction. Demilich, Gorguts, Morbid Angel, and Incantation is a good place in death metal to start if you are interested in the neo-classical or avantgarde.

For more, ah, melody, try "Set Your Body Ablaze" by Shai Hulud, or "Twisted Tower of Fire" by Dark Army.
Current fave: Blind Guardian

Forming in the small German town of Krefeld, Blind Guardian perfected a fusion of Gothic- and fantasy-tinged European power metal with the velocity and technical precision of speed metal.

Not a big fan of the newer metalcore stuff like Shai Hulud... it seems pointless to me, and I wouldn't call it melodic... maybe faux melodic.
If you want more melody, try Summoning, Burzum, Gorguts, Demilich, Massacra, Cenotaph, At the Gates or Amorphis!
Lord_Tigersloth 02-09-03, 03:24 PM I personally like a bit of slipknot..... They look dumb, but some of there songs are ok. 'Wait and Bleed' is good, and for some reason i like the 'heretic album' and i am christian!:D
%BlueSoulRobot% 02-09-03, 03:26 PM If you want more melody, try Tristania's "Wormwood". Avatar recommended them, as well as those other ones on his list. They are awesome, because there are female+male operatic vocals, as well as a variety of instruments. Good rhythm, and very melodic. I'm having trouble listening to other stuff after Tristania, because everything else sounds so bland, lol :D

pumpkinsaren'torange 02-09-03, 03:28 PM :D ya know...i'm starting to take a liking to that word: "moron".
%BlueSoulRobot% 02-09-03, 03:30 PM How come, Pumpkins? Where's the moron?! Let me at him! :D j/k
%BlueSoulRobot% 02-09-03, 03:36 PM If you want more melody, try Summoning, Burzum, Gorguts, Demilich, Massacra, Cenotaph, At the Gates or Amorphis! Could you recommend a song from each band, Prozak? I'd like to try some new stuff. :)
Any song from those bands should suffice, although please avoid At the Gates "Slaughter of the Soul" like HIV.
pumpkinsaren'torange 02-09-03, 03:43 PM bluesoulbot...i didn't mean anyone specifically in this thread...i just got a chuckle (as i always do outta Spookz) ....actually, anyone can be a moron, at any given time (even me:D)) if the shoe fit, the person in question needs to wear it. the word has a certain ring to it....:D
%BlueSoulRobot% 02-09-03, 03:59 PM Any song from those bands should suffice, although please avoid At the Gates "Slaughter of the Soul" like HIV. Ok then, I've got "War", "Det Som En Gang Var", and "Dunkelheit" downloading from Burzum, and "Disincarnated" and "Orphans of Sickness" from Gorguts.
Dang, I got a live version of "War". Sounds a bit screechy. It's ok...

My friends and I are so sad, we call each other borons. (element on periodic table) :o
Later Burzum is more refined; something off Filosofem will be easiest to digest.
The Gorguts stuff should be fun - try Demilich!
