We hear shit all the time... this is good for you, this is bad for you... If you do this you might die early, if you do this you might live to 100, 30% of all people are gay and so on.

I think we are being brainwashed by the Media Propaganda Machine... I just simply think that most of the stuff we know that we take for granted, is just bullshit and to try and prove it I've devised this simple poll.

Please use your votes and it would be helpful if you told us your age and how many of those people you knew. Cheers

It's important to know whether these people smoked, drank or ate to excess, whether there was a congental heart defect, or whether they worked in smoky or dusty environments. I know people that have never touched a cigarette in their lives who are suffering with heart problems and strokes. One is hereditary and the other is from being slightly obese.

I live in Cyprus and we lead the world in smoking per capita... And I never knew anybody that died from Lung Cancer, I'm 52! Don't you think that's incredible?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that smoking is harmless, I just think the number of deaths it causes are not as high as we are led to believe, certainly not out here in the real world.

Heart attacks, diabetes and strokes are all inter-related and are mainly due to sedentary lifestyles, obesity, pent up stress and resentment, lack of exercise and/or abuse of alcohol, tobacco and amphetmine type drugs. There are cumulative effects of physical abuses, the more you do, the greater the risks.

    Please mark the poll Asguard

If you really want to know if there's a media propaganda (and I don't think so...) you should have added a 5th one ("I don't know anyone who died from one of these diseases") and you should have allowed multiple answers.

I will have to say that the things that are bad for us, like cigarettes, aren't necessarily the cause of illness as they allow existing conditions to have a lot more leeway to be potentially life threatening, I say this because my mom has smoked since 15, and I mean smoked and yet her lungs and heart are in very good condition, of course the lupus, copd, stroke damage, spinal damage, low platelete count, scleridema and whatever else she has isn't being well served by the smoking, she is 65 now. Doctors 15 years ago figured she wouldn't last a year.
Anyway, that's my point, those things that they tell us are bad, they are bad for us, they aren't the cause necessarily but they nurture the stuff that is bad. This is just my opinion, if someone knows something I don't please enlighten me, thanks.

when it comes to those diseases i dont think there's a propaganda campaign. i do however that media (left wing / right wing) is full of bias.

i don't know what to believe. i choose not to believe anything at all unless i experience it for myself.

almost everything [you think] you know you've read or heard it somewhere.
how do u know they're telling the truth? maybe their sources were screwed up?
