Dean Devlin (Independence Day) will produce a movie based on the best-selling Mech Warrior video games, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Paramount Pictures is in talks to option the property from Wiz Kids, a Seattle-based game company, for Devlin's Electric Entertainment, which will develop a screenplay that Devlin will produce, the trade paper reported.

It's too bad that such a bad producer is working on this franchise. You'd figure that someone up top would actually want to make a good movie, but, given this guy's credentials, that doesn't seem too likely. I have no doubt that the movie will be cool and fun, but that it will still inherently suck.
