From its departure about 5 years back from the video card market, Maxtrox has returned with a new 512-bit GPU

This is the first ever 512-bit graphics processor that I am aware of.

The card, unlike most others, focuses on providing superior image quality, with only moderate performance (as opposed to allowing you to strip down the quality in exchange for a better framerate).

From what I read, I believe they are attempting to focus on some new anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering techniques.

Hmmm, it didn't benchmark as high as I thought it would have. Oh well, it's still one of it's kind, for the time being. Don't think i'd spend US$399 for it though.

Yeah, but some non-workstation cards in the past have ran as much as $500 :D

The Ti 4600's were $400 when they were first released retail (heck, I think they still are now - ATI is the only chipset manufacturer with their best line of card at reasonable prices - the 4200, which isn't the best of the GF 4 Ti line, it is actually the lowest without going MX, is reasonable - you can find shoddy brands like visiontek for $150 on the net)
