Dum de dum dumb. The individual is paramount. Sure, we have consumerism, but you don't have to pay attention or buy things you don't need. Sure, going back to a rigid cultural institution where an elite controlled everything, and conformism was complete would be comforting to some scared little puppies, but that's the price we pay for being free. This fuedal utopia could accomplish nothing without politics, no collective action. No way to deal with emerging problems. It's not very well thought out. If we do refer back to the past for sane models of society, I think we will look back even further than the miserable middle ages, back to the mushroom dotted plains of Africa and the shamanistic hunter gatherers from which we came.
Most people seem to feel that illusion is preferable to reality. That was a series of false assertions. The common people have until recently created culture. Marketed culture now is so much forgettable disposable waste, resulting in a forgettable, disposable society. Nice "progress" you got there. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
