The British media's treatment of the Iranian election has been a textbook example of government-supervised warmongering. It continues to give Iran more and more coverage. It delights in quoting Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, in saying: "the most evil of [Iran's opponents] is the British government."

I must have heard that quote at least twice a day since the speech was made. Good old Gordon has made himself heard, filled with righteous anger; he condemned Iran's "repression and *brutality".

All this, as if Iran is the only country to express such sentiments! I mean, who cares what they think of us? If we had stuck to our Splendid Isolation guns in the first place there's no way the Iranians would have been cheering so loudly to Khamenei's words. Yes, their democracy may be under scrutiny, but I really don't see why we should - yet again - get involved. It's a foreign country. Perhaps we should be worrying about domestic affairs for once.

So the propaganda continues, as bad feeling is continually stirred up towards Iran. The government will need support for the planned invasion, with its motives as transparent as ever. Iran is too far from Israel, and too close to its borders.

Religion and War keep tend to keep the sheeple preoccupied - Iran is the perfect combination of the two, which is exactly what Gordon Brown needs right about now.
