    Hi
I have made a basic map of recent seismic activity in the Asian region recently hit by the earthquake. It shows that there still is seismic activity in the area, even though at a much smaller scale, 4-6. The data is for the last week.

For the big one? No, I donĀ“t. But the aftershocks shown in the map occured at 10-100 km depth, most around 30-50 km.

BBC article suggests that there was an 8.1 mag quake in the antarctica region a few days before the tsunami quake.

don't know if there is an overall activity spike along the ring of fire & it's surrounding plates, but it certainly seems like it via the mainstream media.
